How exactly does the processor giveaway work? How many did they give away?
And my biggest curiosity, how did the system building contest go? What sort of competition was it?
Details Details!!!
I went to the Raleigh one. I would say there were about 200-250, though I could be wrong.
The processor giveaway worked like this: Your ticket has three stubs on it with a term on it: performance, reliability, and AMD solutions. You put the stubs in the different boxes marked with its term. They draw from these throughout the night to give away the processors. The VIP event has a special drawing before they let the general public in.
There were 52 processors that they gave away. 10 were given away at the VIP event. 10 were given away to the contestants on battle of the boxes. The rest were given out to everyone there.
The battle of the boxes competition was alright. There was one guy that was obviously from [ H ]ard|forum(he had an [ H ] next to his name. One guy in the final got his computer to work, but failed to hook up one of the LEDs properly and the other guy did everything right, but it didn't boot. They were both given the grand prize.
There were plenty of free mints that you could take. After the first 30 minutes of the general admission event, they start giving away free stuff like t-shirts, hats, and bags. For most of the time they weren't able to get the shirts very far back in the crowd. I wasn't able to get a hat as I had hoped, but at least I did manage to get a t-shirt. Two people almost got in a fight over a shirt.
There was some free fruit for people to eat.
As already mentioned, Anand showed up and even gave away a processor.
