It's a hell of a recession we're having

I went to the East Village to pick up my wife tonight. She was having dinner at Kenka. I found a parking space and parked 2 blocks south around 6th St., between 2nd and 3rd. As I was walking towards 2nd Avenue this guy comes up to me and the conversation goes like this:

Guy: "I'll suck your dick for a cigarette."

Dari: "What?"

Guy: [runs off]...

I don't smoke and not sure what made him think I did.

I like the fact that what troubles you about this exchange is that he mistook you for a guy who smokes rather than one who would let some dude go down on him for a cigarette.

It's New York, WTF do you expect? If you starting fighting everyone that offered to suck you're dick for this or that you would need a lawyer on speed dial...

Wait till old Mitt gets in, and his buddies ask you to bend over...
Don't count on them then running away. They will wait for you to comply.
But not for a long wait mind u. 😀

Finish the story. Did you run after him to take UP his offer or not?

Dont leave us HANGING free.

The lower east side was the worst neighborhood in the city not too long ago. Now it's just rich white kids who go to NYU and hipsters. You probably ran into a crackhead, one of the former natives.

Why is this acceptable living conditions? I don't even know if I'd stop in that place long enough to take a shit. Sounds like a complete shithole.

lol, yeah, ok.

Yep. Wife going to the store alone and not worrying if she'll get robbed or raped is such a bad thing. And the gigantic yard and workshop is an awful deal too... Dog running free in the backyard while I sit and enjoy the sound of birds and what not is awful as well...

Man you're right. I need to be where I get asked for change or asked to be sucked off for a cig when I walk down the street. Silly me.

How to measure the economic situation in your city:

- Total sales of champaign over the last year

- How many cigarettes for a blow job

An apartment in the lower east side probably costs twice as much as your house now.

It used to be a shitty neighborhood but not anymore. It's a hipster-filled, trust-fund-kiddie-laden posh area now.

I love hearing people talking about NYC as a shithole. It's great. They're almost always from the suburbs where the crime rate is usually higher. NYC's a big area, dude. There's, what, 20 million people in the metro area? Try taking the crime rate of the nearest neighborhoods to your own until you get to 20 million people and then compare.

Old NY is not new NY

Since 2005 the city has had the lowest crime rate among the 25 largest U.S. cities, having become significantly safer after a spike in crime in the 1980s[295] and early 1990s from the crack epidemic that affected many neighborhoods. By 2002, New York City had about the same crime rate as Provo, Utah and was ranked 197th in crime among the 216 U.S. cities with populations greater than 100,000. Violent crime in New York City decreased more than 75% from 1993 to 2005 and continued decreasing during periods when the nation as a whole saw increases.[296] In 2005 the homicide rate was at its lowest level since 1966,[297] and in 2007 the city recorded fewer than 500 homicides for the first time ever since crime statistics were first published in 1963.[298] 95.1% of all murder victims and 95.9% of all shooting victims in New York City are black or Hispanic. And 90.2 percent of those arrested for murder and 96.7 percent of those arrested for shooting someone are black or Hispanic.
