Our son Nicholas Paul was born 7:33 am Monday Dec 16 7 lbs 1 oz.

Been a rough week and a half. In and out of the hospital. He has refulx, troubles with apnea and keeps having a high bili count.

Will try and get a pic uploaded somewhere if anyone wants to see.

Congratulations. Like the name! Our daughter, Jennifer, has g.i.r.d. (gastro intestinal reflux disease) so it was a very rough few months getting through that. The doctor recommended we sit her up for 20-30minutes after feedings and then lay her down, that fixed the GIRD but got her used to falling asleep in our arms. Hope it's not that bad for you all, but you gotta do the right thing.

She was also a bit high on her bili's, so she had mild jaundice. That was making her very tired. Dr's monitored it for a bit (had to get her foot pricked a few times to draw blood--that's painful to watch, 'specially since we are new parents) but once the jaundice was cleared up the sleeping problem went away. And then we had to deal with the GIRD forever and ever.

She's 9.5mo noe, and doing very well. As are we.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, not an expert but maybe can share some additional stories / info on the above.

He is on 2 meds for the reflux and is doing better. Mostly the apnea spells are when eating. He did it all the time when they were doing bottle feedings.. he would just suck and forget to breath. He is doing much better on nursing.. the monitor has only gone off 3 times since I brought him home Monday and he recovers quick so that is a good sign they said.

Last Thursday he got to come home on bili lights but was admitted again on friday because of the high bili and apnea. I got to bring him home again Monday but on Tues his count had still gone up yet again. We have a great doc who said as long as I kept him on the bili lights I could keep him and take him to the husbands family for Christmas but as of today his count is still not low enough to go off the lights and if it goes back up again tomorrow they will consider readmitting him. Very frusterating!

And yep the heel pricks sure break your heart he doesn't basically have a spot left to prick. Between that and the tube that was shoved down his nose and throat along w/ iv's I am just heartbroken.

But at least he is alive and we have great technology to allow him to still be here. Turning blue was not fun!

Wishing you much happiness. Remember, the warranty is up pretty quickly, and no returns or exchanges on holiday gifts like this one. ;)

Congratulations!!!!

yep he is our 4th and last.. But what a miracle each one has been

Mine are 11 and 12 years old and i'm starting to itch now... we'll see what happens... ;)

Four have always sounded right to me, i just have problems finding a new woman that i actually want to take that step with... i want to be sure...

That would be a good age span I think in some ways to have more. I love my kids and wouldn't trade them for anything but having so many so close has been very hard physically and emotionally for both of us. In many ways I think twins would have been easier.

concidering they were only 11 months apart and neither of them slept very well.. small children are hard on you...

That is probably why i want more, i have forgotten how hard it was... ;)

If they are admitting him for jaundice, ask about having a wallaby at home. We had to do what with our second. Anyway, congratulations!

No, i could believe it was not.. but i for one will pray for him (in a god that i don't really believe in) i hope, i WISH, let him be ok, you have my worthless life to take, why take his.. i offer my life in exchange... without exceptions.... not because i am so nice, but because there would be a meaning to the life..

LOL our oldest girls are 11 months and 3 days apart the middle and youngest girls are 15 months 3 days apart and now youngest girl and new baby are 20 months 2 days apart.

Def will be hard work. I sure hope I am strong enough. Will be different as well doing this as a single mom this time around.

What is a wallaby?

I have bili lights already that he has to still be under at all times except when he eats. His bili level was back up yet again today. *sigh* poor little guy

I have no doubt you will make it.. and i was not complaining , i was just stating cold facts, and it was hard at the time...

It will be hard, but how tough are you? fallback needed? find it, i can be it, cuz i know it is hard, just make sure that you have it, WHEN you need it...

Tough? yeah, it is tough, but blame it on yourself, this was your choice, just as it was my choice... we'll live... through this too... if i can help, i am here...

Next time, skip the lols, it feels like you are trying to ridicule me... which i am sure you are not...

I didn't see anything you said as complaining. Nor am I meaning to come off complaning.

I don't blame anyone. My kids are a blessing.

As far as choices in many ways yes but do to it alone no not really my choice. Yes could have done adoption or something but at the same time not really.

Sorry you felt I was ridiculing (sp?) you. It was a laugh of ahh nice to meet someone else who knows how you feel. And thinking wow how did I make this far and still be somewhat sane.
