its 2008, so why can't I buy a soda with my cell phone yet?

Unfortunatley in this country we are not too much of a vending machine culture. If you go to Japan they use vending machines for everything also in a lot of foreign counteries their cell phones can do more. But yes, I remember I was talking to my koren finanance professor and in korea you can wave your cell phone in front of a vending machine and it will make the charge......

It is a billion dollar industry. Thats pretty major.

the machines here at work require exact change. for instance, a can of soda costs $.60. You put 2 quarters and a dime into a tube that is slotted for those coins only. you turn the crank and get your soda.

some candy bars are $.65 - 2 quarters, a dime, and a nickel.

it sucks...luckily the change machines are set up to give you 3 quarters, 2 dimes, and 1 nickel.

He is right though. In comparison, we don't use vending machines for nearly as many purposes as a lot of other countries.

Not being able to charge $2.75 for soda using my phone is the pinnacle of recockulousness.

if you want such technology you have to go other fun countries like Japan or South Korea. But in exchange you have to give up the protections and liberties promised to you be the Patriot Act.

While true, more and more types of vending machines are poping up in Malls.

You can now buy iphones, ipods, etc in vending machins.

Ive also seen cosmetic vending machines, as well as others.

I paid the same price in TI over Christmas. The vendors that supply Texas Tech have installed the same card readers on all the vending machines here.

you can do that in japan already.... i've actually seen a show on it. but it was in japanese/chinese (on JETTV)

that's Cedar Point pricing... I swore I'd only let the fine folk at CP rape me like that. Although it has occurred elsewhere. 🙁
