Yup, some douchbag called the cops on me maybe five or six years go for my "barking dog", well, I didn't even have a dog! I get some blowhard literally waling his fists on my front door at 3AM like he is going to break it down.
"Sir, we have a noise complaint about your dog, it seems to be barking non stop. I need to see the dog to make sure it is ok"
"I don't have a dog, what the hell were you banging on the door so loudly for? This isn't a fucking crack house. I don't have a dog, good night" *slams door*
It's nice you think that but some people are just plain assholes.
I had an issue with a neighbor parking on my property several years ago I let it go on for a year and a half assuming that the would stop on their own...they did not so I nicely approached them and asked the to please not park on my property they had plenty of parking directly in front of their own house there was no need to park in front of mine.
Half heartedly they she said sure whatever...and it continued...so instead of calling the cops I started leaving my trash cans there to remind them that it was my property and they should not be parking there...one came up missing the other was run over by a by a vehicle that had the exact same tires as their Ford Expedition.....coincidence?...I think not.
From that point on I just started calling the cops and letting them deal with it....that is what they are paid for...to enforce city ordinances which includes barking dogs.
My advice to the OP....call the cops....these people obviously don't give a shit about you as a neighbor...if they did they would do something about the dog themselves, the fact they do not is an indicator that they won't do anything if you ask yourself....they may just let it bark more just to piss you off.
Call the cops, let them deal with it and make sure to tell them and you are unsure if the animal is licensed....so that they check...that is another fine.
If that does not work, well, maybe some milk bone dog treats soaked in D-con get left laying randomly in their yard.

You sound like my neighbor across the street. "On your property" and "in front of your house" are two different things, assuming the latter is referring to the street.

I agree if its on the street they can park where they want. Whether its in front of your house or not.

I'm with wheezer though technically you guys are right about "property"... but wtf are they parking their vehicle in front of my house for when there's no cars in front of their own place? If you are a homeowner you would care if it went on daily.
Oh and as "chicken shit" as it sounds, it's better that the cops be the bad guy for the one time rather than you causing bad blood unnecessarily with anyone you're going to be around for such a length of time. The neighbor should've realized on his own in the first place... and now you're the bad guy? No.

This is not a curbed street situation, I am responsible for the property and maintaining it, for example, if the grass grows too high I can get a citation for it.
I have talked to the city engineer before any action was taken to verify what my rights were and where my property stops and where the city's begins and the area in question is my responsibility...however the city does have a "right of way"....if they need to plow the street and need to shove the snow there, or work on the water line they can tear it up if needed and I have no repercussions....no problem there.
All is fine now...I had a buddy who does landscaping drop off a big ass rock right were they parked.....the first time they decided to call my bluff afterwards I boxed their ass in and left for 2 days......there was a note on the car calling me an asshole, but it has not happened since.
There is a lot more to the story than what I have put here...and there is a long background history to these people...but the point is directly asking in a situation like this may not get the result you desire, in fact it can aggravate the situation...so if thats the case and the situation is going to get blown up anyway just let the cops deal with it directly.
Another option is to leave a courteous note in their mailbox very kindly asking them to control their animal otherwise you will have no choice but to involve the police.
The OP is probably not the only one bothered by this but he'll probably be the one that has to take action.

"Manning up" and bitching at the neighbor in person might work for some/with some, but not likely. If the neighbors are such assholes that they'll ignore their barking dog, they probably don't care that it bothers you...until they get the cops at the door.
I have neighbors who like to "encroach" on my driveway.
There's a small grassy area between our driveways that's just a bit too short to park a car in without hanging over into one driveway or the other.
Often, they, or one of their friends parks there and hangs over a couple of feet into my driveway.
When it happens, the only way to get a car out of that side of the driveway is to move one car (the one not blocked in) then jockey the other one around enough to get it out.
It only took a couple of times of having to do that and bitch at them about it before I said, "Fuck it," and let the cops handle it.
A couple of tickets for driveway encroachment and 3 cars towed FINALLY got the point across that it's MY driveway...don't block it.
They KNOW that I am the one who calls the cops...I've told them that it's ME who does it, and that I'll do it everytime they park and block my driveway.

my former neighbour had a Pomeranian that she would let outside just before dawn and leave it out for a couple hours. It would bark non-stop the entire time. That stupid dog woke me up everyday like that. I worked nights and didn't get home till after 3:00 AM.
I asked her several times to knock it off and she didn't. So I got my revenge. Seems her son worked nights and got home around 7:00 AM. So I would start cutting the lawn at 10:00 or 11:00 AM with my old Sears Craftsman mower with the missing muffler 😀.
That thing was louder than hell, especially in thick grass.
She bitched about the mower. I said my work has to be done, deal with it. I cut the grass 2 or 3 times a week just to annoy her. She eventually got the message and the dog stayed indoors during the morning.

Years ago we had a neighbor that kept parking if front of our place. It was a pain when I came home with the boat or quad trailer. We couldn't park in front of our house, we had to park in front of his.
I started washing off my quads after a trip do the mud/over spray would get on his vehicle. I also started parking my motorhome in front of his place. He never got the hint.

I had a guy yelling for someone to let them in for about 3 hours last week from 12-3am. Seems they were fighting or something so this dude stood outside yelling their name once every 10-20 seconds for 3 hours straight. When asked to STFU by several neighbors and myself, he would say ok, then start at it again 5 min later. Who does this? It was literally just insane.
