worst halftime show ever.

*sigh* Dari was probably standing in front of big-screen television, bottle of lotion in hand, kleenex on the coffee table, hoping for Britney or Christina or some other teeny bopper idol to have a wardrobe malfunction.

I'd be upset if I was in your shoes too.
:) :p

McCartney shouldn't have been allowed to perform these classics without the rest of the Beatles.

Some of them are dead. he therefore cannot perform the songs.

ITS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT THEM, DAMNIT!

psssst... Live and Let Die was Paul McCartney and Wings... not the Beatles.

i know that :)

i'm talking about Hey Jude and the other song he played, forget the name.

Yeah, it's kinda sad that they couldn't have got the remainder of themselves together for that... sort of a reunion. Lennon's obviously dead, and I haven't kept track of the others.
Who else is around still? edit: it seems like Ringo and George are still around... didn't see any links otherwise... It'd have been awesome if they reunited for the superbowl...

That halftime show was better than the bile that's been used for the past couple years...

Yeah, I was pretty sure he wasn't alive anymore but I couldn't remember how he died. I wish I could've been alive a couple decades earlier just to see them live in concert in their heyday.

The concerts sucked during their "hayday", because girls screamed through the whole show. What good is that?

I remember watching them on Ed Sullivan at my grandparent's house. Girls screaming, and my grandfather bitching about their hair.

George Harrison died of cancer in 2001. Ringo is the only other remaining member of the Beatles.

*sigh* yes, now I remember him passing away from cancer (lung?) or something like that just a couple of years ago. I don't think it would have been appropriate for just the two of them to get back together, since they couldn't be the old beatles again.

Though the girls screaming would probably be horrible, I'm sure it wouldn't take away from the performance if you were up towards the front.

Here's a sample.

Even in the front row it would be unbearable!

Concert in Washington
  • A performance of "She Loves You" from their Washington Coliseum concert. Even though the bands' amplifiers were powerful for their day, the screaming crowd was so loud they couldn't hear the music. - Video

The speculation on a sound/video/lighting email list that I read is that they used some sort of giant LED (not LCD) panels...

I would not be surprised if there was some digital assitance. He doesn't need to lip-synch, but under those conditions, he probably did have some help.

Appearances that his lips were out of synch with the video could be attributed to a number of things, especially time delay.

I was kind of hoping he would do something outrageous like moon the audience just to thumb his nose at the NFL for signing him in large part because they knew he would put on a tame and wholesome show ;)

Live and Let Die was awesome - they did a great job with the fireworks coordination. It was great when the whole crowd was siging along to the end of Hey Jude too

lol

They don't use OLED's for projection bulbs. They are not nearly bright enough. OLED's are used for screens.

I was thinking a Runco...or a DLP similar to those in movie theaters.

Neither of those would've produced anything visible at all under stadium lighting (unless they shut off the lights, I wasn't paying any attention at all)
Please, if you don't know what the hell you are talking about, don't say anything at all. Very high-constrast LCD? OLED projection bulb?

Would you consider Alicia Keys talented ? I know I do. But she piano-synced instead of playing for real at the beginning... it doesn't prove anything if they sync or not. Some situations call for one while others call for the other. Period. <--

When I saw it was going to be Paul McCartney at halftime, I thought, Meh.

However, he sounded great, about 400,000 times better than anyone last year. It's the first time since I've had Tivo that I didn't fast forward through the halftime show. The crowd seemed to go wild frequently. I couldn't figure out why. I guess they were drunk and like fireworks.

I found it weird that he kept saying, "Thank you superbowl." But after thinking further, it would be stupid to say Jacksonville since there were probably only 2 people from Jacksonville there.
