How dare you believe that your human family is more important than a dog! This is the internet in 2018!

That's not the issue. The issue is that OP is lazy and possibly sociopathic enough to just toss his companion into the dust bin simply because his daily schedule has changed a bit. It's not as if humans can't take care of their new family and pets at the same time, is it? When did that suddenly become impossible for this generation of self-serving dickheads?

Maybe OP needs to figure out what real priorities he has in his life, and work on a more proper balance. I'm sure one's "social media life" or online gaming life or whatever else can lose a fair chunk of dedicated hours because the dog is supposedly being neglected.

1. keep the dog until next christmas
2. participate in the ATOT secret santa
3. send a lucky recipient your dog for a christmas present
4. achieve legendary ATOT status
The really funny thing about this is how it's likely to play out:

1. keep the dog until next christmas
2. Try to participate in the ATOT secret santa
3. Find out that Secret Santa is cancelled like it was this year.
4. Keep the dog like almost all of us want you to. :)

I cut a doggie door through the side of my house to a run for my dogs. It is roofed over, they come and go from the warm as they wish while we are away at work. I use child doors to limit how much of the house they get. This keeps the mess down while we are away.
Even an older dog can be trained to a mat or a crate to limit some of the hair cleanup on the furniture. Just some ideas for you OP.

I mean OP hasn't even defined what "don't have time for my dogs" even means. That can mean "I don't take him on trips anymore" to "I leave him in the backyard. Oh and he hasn't been to a vet in 4 years, has a hernia, and now weighs 55 pounds"
