The last time we had a one-termer, there was a serious third party contender.

Coincidence?

Who's the 3rd party candidate this time? I don't see none..

Main stream news ignores the other parties. If you want to keep up with them, you will have to do it yourself.

I subscribe to the Libertarian Party newsletter.

When bill clinton did his flip-flop on nafta and gatt, I knew there was no hope for this country as long as the two major parties are in power. Since the mid-1990s I have voted straight line Libertarian Party.

I'll be surprised is Obama is defeated. Unseating an incumbent is never easy.

Third Party contenders tend to steal votes from one of the two parties, generally not both.

Thats what I meant. Tons of hardcore republicans were unhappy with Bush but damn sure werent gonna vote democrat.
Perot stole a shitload of Bush's voting base, did not win one state for himself, and set Clinton up for an easy win.
It was a huge landslide as I recall.

Unless people get dissatisfied enough with his performance.

And you have a candidate that is worth voting for. See 2004 presidential election.

That crucial second part is what the Republicans (or at least the current frontrunners) are missing.
