it doesn't get that cold here, but we have had some very cold weather before. Back in late January 1994 we had almost 2 weeks of -30C temps at night and -20C during the day. That was pretty damn cold.

I hate cold weather.

Yeah I stop counting after -30C. It's freaking cold. :p Honestly it can get pretty dangerous at those temps. I sure as hell would avoid highway driving, or even driving anywhere that's more than a block away from civilization.

If your car is going to fail you, it's probably going to be in that weather. I go to work and that's about it. In fact I did not even bother going home for lunch, did not want to have to start the car and put extra stress on it, went to the restaurant across the street from us and picked something up.

NOAA is showing 2F for me; my thermometer is showing 5F.

Had a hell of a time convincing one group of goats to stay in the barn until I got the barn shut up tight. It took nearly 2 hours to get all my chores done tonight.

Although it's "cold", it really doesn't feel that bad out. Instead of wearing my heavy Carhart jacket, I just wore a fleece hoody. It's a dry cold, so doesn't feel that bad (except when my gloves and hand froze to the handles of water buckets.) There are a lot of times when it's in the low 20's, and it's a damp cold - that just cuts through you like a knife.

I like how they add the information "a few clouds" rather than "really, really ball shrinkingly fucking cold" because I certainly would be more worried about a few clouds than my extremities freezing solid. :)

Hahaha yeah, that is pretty funny.

Interestingly when it gets this cold, the sun is actually out and very bright. Well, other than those few pesky clouds to worry about.

:awe:

Tabarnac, THIS is cold.

F that, it's warmer in Iqaluit.

This is all TWN has been talking about. I didn't get a chance to talk to them about it, mostly because the dick meteorologist was on the briefing desk. He knows he's supposed to give me a full report every day but he just shows me the website. Dick. Anyway... ^_^

It wasn't too bad in Toronto today. CAA did say they had over 5000 calls for battery boosts. Got some bad snow squalls that really buggered up the commute. Just parked over the city and wreaked havoc, yet sunny out in the burbs. Weird weather. It's been a while since it was this cold. People just aren't used to it after two nice winters. They did say to expect a roller coaster with the temps.

do they like the cold?

My cat liked being outside in the winter. She would hide near a snow pathway and jump out and attack your boots. Then run away. She was an odd cat.

snow squalls are like that.

My video of the Hwy 402 snow squalls from 2010 show just how things can change by driving a kilometer or 2, and go from clear of snow to a complete whiteout with a foot of snow.

I don't know how you guys put up with really cold weather. I consider anything below 60F cold and I hate cold weather. I should just move to San Diego

Haha! I listen to the radio on my way to work and today, the guy was like "Well, still fucking cold, and perhaps even colder than yesterday, but... it's going to be sunny!". I just don't get how that's a silver lining at all. I'd rather have clouds, or even snow and warmer temperatures :awe:

Snowmobiling, skiing, etc. - there's plenty to do outside when it's cold. It's pretty simple to bundle up warm enough so that the cold doesn't bother you a bit. Last night would have been an awesome night for skiing. Excellent powder coming down from the sky non-stop. There's only one thing that sucks about skiing when it's bitter cold out - riding a fast lift to the top when it's 10 below zero results in a wind chill factor of about 40 below zero. Ahhhh, makes it great to feel alive.

Tabarnac, THIS is cold.

Car had lot of trouble starting this morning even plugged in. The auto start did not start it so I ended up having to get dressed go outside and start it. Struggled a lot but it started. Noticed the clock was at 12:00, not a good sign. Got to work JUST on time. At work I tried to start the car again and it was completely dead. Emailed my boss to ask him if he can bring his booster pack when he comes in. By 8:30ish when we went to check it out I tried to start it again and sure enough, it started! So I just let it run for a good half hour. It's fine now. I probably need to consider changing that battery though, it's probably original to the car so it's done it's time.

At this temp, it's when you realize just how much pollution we make. All the car exhaust, building heating exhaust, etc, just stays there. It's pretty much standstill, and it's almost like there's smog.

My balls sucked up to my chest reading this post! ;)

With cold you can dress warmer, stay inside, etc. With hot, you can't do F all about it, and sweat like crazy and feel all sticky and just overall yucky. I prefer the cold tbh. THIS cold may be a bit much but I'll take that over +40C any day.
