Lolz...

I actually don't watch football anymore. Too barbaric. Watching those barbarians fighting over a pigskin. Why?

That's good to know. I don't like hanging out with people who are...less.

(fwiw, I don't give much of a shit about this year's Super Bowl, and and while I will PROBABLY watch it, I might not.)

Honestly from the thread title I was expecting something in the line of "I am the Lord thy G-d". Why is it important that we know that about you?

For the record, I do not watch sports either. Well, except the really important ones like the CSGO Eleague playoffs. I find watching grown men play with a ball is less interesting than watching a dog play with a ball. ( To put that into perspective, I don't have a dog, so . . .)

I play fantasy during the year and that's about it. I really don't care about 2 random other teams fighting it out.

Don't care for any of the mainstream sports myself. But I do love the Olympics. Swimming would have to be my fav. At least in the Olympics you see world records broken and you compete for something more meaningful. It's about the human achievement.

Contact sports are barbaric. Non-contact sports aren't. The most barbaric sports, of course, are ones where the goal is to beat people into a bloody pulp.

Sport is abstracted warfare. The more abstracted it is the less barbaric it is, the more artistic.

That said, though, golf is overrated.

I'd love to see modern gladiators go after one another. And I am kinda partial to boxing.

That's basically UFC, or perhaps WWE. Steel Cage match hitting people with ladders is probably the equivalent of reenacting the battle of Carthage circa Russel crowe

I, too, take a perverse pleasure in declaring something people are enamored with means nothing to me.

NFL means nothing to me.

 See there I go ...

I used to have season tickets for one team, to be honest I don't pay attention to sports much these days.

I think the Pats are in it, I'll root for the other side while not watching, and try to get the new 4K and sound system to work for a movie.

th

Watching Barry Sanders get shut down in the last game at the old sombrero was pretty epic, and a few other games, but just going to a game is stupid sick money these days.

We get to name things because we're America. Therefore our sport shall be called "Football" and yours shall be called "Death by boredom among people too poor to afford anything more than one ball for the whole group".

True story.

Football is the only sport I can stand to watch regularly. It's a chess match. Every snap leads to another chess move by both teams. It's fascinating.

Plus it works out well. In basketball, hockey and baseball there are just so many games. That's a big time commitment. In football each team plays just 16 games a year. If you like all 4 sports a lot you have no time to do anything else but watch all those games. Just liking football gives you a good sports/life balance. It's a winner!
