All these stories of Mobile XP2500's hitting 2.5 Ghz on 1.65 volts got to me and I finally ordered one from newegg. Should be here by Friday, possibly even Thursday.

Anyone else get one recently and would care to share your overclocking experience with it?

***UPDATE*** My CPU came today (3/12)... here's the complete stepping...

This is where I'm going to stop for now. It looks like this CPU has the potential to hit 2.6-2.7 Ghz if I go up into the 1.8 volt range... possibly 2.8 if I go up to 1.9 or 2.0... however, my BIOS won't allow me to go over 1.825, so that's all the further I can go, but that will just be for testing purposes. I'll most likely be keeping it at 2.5 Ghz on 1.725 volts, or 2.4 Ghz on 1.625 volts to keep it nice and cool. (who says socket A is dead? :D )
I'm going to do some more stability testing/benchmarking... I'll report the results as I finish tests =)

I believe John just setup a 2500+ XP-M on an NF7-S, and he's running 2.5Ghz IIRC.

Good luck!

:)

I just might have to order a new heatsink from Thermalright to go along with it... maybe that one with a heatpipe built in :D

IMO, save your money and get a SLK947-U instead. You can get one for $33.95 here. Pair it up with a nice 92mm fan and you will have almost no trade in performance vs the heatpipe one...IMO.

:)

Wonder how much difference there would be between that and my SK-7.

I think everyone got a Mobile Barton except for me. I'm not too worried, I want to save for a case and an extra Raptor.

Unless I can find one chip that does 2.5Ghz and beyond at 1.75v, I don't think I'll move on to bartons. :D

77 dollah is alot for a CPU. :D Considering that I got this xp1700 for 35 bones. :D

Just received the following from Newegg.

Abit NF7-S
Moble Barton 2500+ (IQYHA 0407)
Buffalo PC3200 2x256

Tested with stock AMD heatsink (from retail Barton 2500)
Ran 2.46ghz (12x205) at 1.7V had 55C load temp.
Ran 18 hours prime95 stable with no errors.
Going to install it in my main rig with water cooling Wensday and crank up the voltage to see what it will do!

You got to remember the bartons' cache is worth and extra ~200mhz more compared to your thoroughbred.

I would get it if there's a 2400 barton that will hit 2.5Ghz at 1.7v. :) I've been monitoring the steppings and it seem like the barton 2500 are the ones that I want but it's 98 bucks.

I thought it was stepping that's important... Shoot. Hope I get a decent chip...
