With all the effort to drop these spam bombs, have they ever gotten any return?

Oh...is that what that is...

I'm beginning to think they need to block every place that isn't the US, Canada, or the UK. That should cut the spam by 50% at least...

I'd settle for adding in several mods who are on at various times. Keep them on a short leash as a cleanup crew.

Yes but that takes time, in both labor and revisiting the issue as new IPs are heard from. As the admin for ************, I liked that idea and started to mass ban problematic foreign IP ranges, but spammers hop around and it turns out that a surprising # of people go overseas for legitimate reasons, and that doesn't handle those using US VPN servers which are more and more popular with spammers these days.

I mass banned IP ranges anyway but then had to go back and unblock quite a few. Besides that, even 20% of a flood is still a problem.

Someone doesn't read Japanese... there may be some Chinese characters (Kanji) in there, but there are also Hiragana and Katakana.

Err it's a notice in a hotel, with Chinese, English and Japanese.

Spam started tonight at 7am in India. Seems about right for a shift.

It's been starting earlier lately, which makes sense if it's Korean spam (they are ahead of India). Although really the spammers could be anywhere.

I created a filter for my email program to reject any message containing a BIG5 character. Maybe I could sell it to Purch?

We probably could get some spam filters or addons to handle this. I'm guessing viddyvane or whoever (if they aren't aware of it already) could do it if it becomes a bigger problem.
