Ok I really wanted to avoid posting about this but I have searched all over the internet and tried all kinds of things and I'm getting a little annoyed now..
Here's the story,
I was able to play Call of Duty 2 online no problem at my friend's house using his DSL on a wired LAN/shared internet connection. We recently got Wireless Internet installed at our house and we bought a LinkSys WRT54G Wireless router so we could share the connection on 2 computers.
I can connect to websites at lightning fast speeds, I even get a 60ms latency in World of Warcraft, but Quake 4 and Call of Duty 2 both will not display servers I can join. I tried using GameSpy to find and log in to servers. It will find servers but it will not connect in-game.
I did see some people tried setting up Port Forwarding for the ports the games use. So, I tried this. I went in to the command window and figured out the correct ports Call of Duty 2 uses, entered them into the config for my router, enabled them, and no go. Didn't work at all.
So then I tried turning off the Port Forwarding and using the DMZ option, again, no go.
I even disabled the security and firewall stuff, and nothing.. Maybe I did make a mistake? I spent hours overlooking the whole config screen for the router, so I doubt it.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, I'm going nuts over here, heh.
EDIT - Just to add, I also am using a LinkSys Wireless G PCI adapter on my PC.
