some more recognition of Palestine
so about this...appeasing to the base but in reality not doing much from what a belgian says -

The last government made a lot of big statements, but did exactly nothing for the last 2 years. The new government is led by right-wing flemish nationalists who are vehemently pro-israel. however, they're in a coalition with both the social democrats and the christian democrats, who were having real problems defending the government's inaction to their base. so after months of obstructions and delays, they finally voted a gaza bill ... and it's a whole bunch of nothing:
- an economic import ban for goods produced in occupied territories (not actually law yet)
- extra humanitarian aid
- calling for a UN peacekeeping force to distribute said aid
- sanctions against violent israeli settlers (heard that one before), as well as, of course, leaders of hamas
- banning ben-gvir, smotrich and all leaders of Hamas from entering Belgium (which they never did before anyway)
- limiting but not stopping the work of the flemish investment & trade office in israel
- calling for a european weapons embargo and a partial suspension of the european-israeli association agreement
- making the existing belgian weapons embargo a bit more strict - no word on actually enforcing it, as it's been ignored the past two years
- recognising a palestinian state... when every hostage is released and hamas is no longer in power

a lot of symbolic nonsense bullshit

bibi however, did not like that one bit

this is what they have in store for the west bank....it's amazing what the world let's you do when you have nukes
Its not the world that lets Israel do what it wants, its the US. When the UN moves to implement actions and security council resolutions to enforce them, the US vetos them. And Israel of course is its puppet master.

how long would they last if europe decided to embargo them
They basically follow their cue from the US. If the US adopted sanctions vs the Israelis the EU would pretty much toe the line. They are already divided over Israel with some supporting sanctions but others opposing such a move.

Haaretz looks at Israeli soldiers who committed war crimes, what compels them and how its affected them.

"I felt like, like, like a Nazi ... it looked exactly like we were actually the Nazis and they were the Jews."

"A new commander came to us. We went out with him on the first patrol at six in the morning. He stops. There's not a soul in the streets, just a little 4-year-old boy playing in the sand in his yard. The commander suddenly starts running, grabs the boy, and breaks his arm at the elbow and his leg here. Stepped on his stomach three times and left. We all stood there with our mouths open. Looking at him in shock ... I asked the commander: "What's your story?" He told me: These kids need to be killed from the day they are born. When a commander does that, it becomes legit."

Ive found some Haeretz articles questionable but the story has been pretty consistent f

Its been disturbing hearing people close to me as well as family express the same attitudes.

Every conversation ends up with obnoxious whataboutisms. "Why isnt anyone talking about Russia killing journalist? What about doctors being killed in Sudan? Why isnt anyone talking about the hostages? What about the women who were rated? Why isnt anyone talking about that!?"

That's a direct quote. Told over and over again.

Anyway
A little humor

Am sure that Zionists are sharing this link with each other for a laugh, but one of these days it could take off.

Mission

The Anti-Zionist America PAC (AZAPAC) is dedicated to removing Zionist control from the U.S. government at the local, state, and federal levels. We fund and support candidates for political office who refuse funds from Israeli lobbies such as AIPAC, Christians United for Israel, J Street, and the Zionist Organization of America. The candidates we support have no dual loyalties or citizenships. These candidates act solely in the best interests of the American people, not on behalf of Israel or its Zionist supporters in the U.S. or elsewhere. We support efforts to dismantle Zionist control, cut foreign entanglements, and prioritize the interests of American citizens above all...

Reports coming in of a bombing in Qatar conducted by Israel aimed at assassinating Hamas leadership.

To say this will not be well received in the Arab world is an understatement. Also probably kills Qatar as a channel for US-Iranian talks because the Iranians will be worried Netanyahu will try to murder them.

i'm sure all the western countries that condemned Iran's attack on Doha will do the same today right?

WTF how does Israel bomb Doha with apparent US support??? We have a fucking airbase there!!

Either the President is completely incompetent and could not prevent this, or he is complicit. Either one should be immediate grounds for removal. Senior military leadership must be beside themselves—how far will this set us back in the Middle East????

Edit: Yes, we should consider the possibility that Qatar was “warned” in advance and the US provided assurances to their leadership but…that is so preposterous that I have to assume this is a fuck up of epic proportions.

Reportedly Trump explicitly ok'd the strike and did not tell the Qataris. If I were them I'd revoke whatever agreement covers the basing, kick us out of Al Udeid, and PNG the US ambassador.

So if I understand what happened the US authorized a IAF incursion into Qatari airspace to bomb Hamas officials in an apparently failed assassination attempt, all without the knowledge and assent of the Qatari government. Just a swell job here.

The biggest advantage for allowing the US to maintain a forward operating base is that it effectively tells your neighbors “we are NOT to be fucked with”. If that’s no longer the case, than we can kiss the base goodbye.

Of course, the Qataris have to consider that Trump is just as much an autocrat as Emir Al Thani—and it may not be easy to kick these thugs out lest they just install someone else.

I can just see Fox News twisting themselves into knots trying to portray this as the US “projecting strength” when this is the biggest abdication of a US President to a foreign power in modern history. I cannot fathom how quickly heads would roll at the Pentagon/cabinet if any other President wittingly or unwittingly allowed an ally to be bombed by another ally with a US base next door.

Netanyahu used qatar to funnel money to hamas for several years.
Cohen was in the news the other day.

Qatar bribed Netanyahu officials to promote Qatar image in Israel and the west. Qatargate.
The aides involved made statements the other day saying it was all official.

So...
Yeah
