Wouldn't IP blockers like PeerGuardian block their sniffing?

PeerGuardian is a useless program. If you run it and think your protected your sadly mistaken.

Peerguardian only stops certain IPs from connecting to the PC it's installed on.

The proposed filtering would be on data packets once they've left your PC and go through top tier network providers like AT&T.

Where in the blue HELL did I say it protected anything? I asked if it would block their sniffing.

It won't block anything either.

pcslookout, your posting rights should be revoked. you post nonsense backed up by a lack of thought, and then you provide no evidence...wonder why.

My biggest fear with this kind of filtering is how long afterwards will we see ISPs or, heaven forbid, Uncle Sam filtering web pages, blogs, or news that they don't think you should see?

This right here is where it will lead in the end. Not only that, but it will be private companies, such as AT&T doing the dirty work.

So basically with this, doesn't that mean torrents will be pretty much obsolete?

the answer is encryption

Yep. After reading the story I just said to myself just encrypt the data and that will solve that small hurdle.

No doubt. Hey here's an idea, why doesn't AT&T tap everyone's phone lines while they're at it. Court order? Bah, who needs it.

Yes.

What if you convert it to another format before viewing, like avi to mpg or wmv?
