Adelphia called me again and said something about me never getting internet again if I keep filesharing (which I do very little of honestly). Those mother****ers are getting really annoying!!!

Now...I do not use kazaa. I do use bittorrent and Ares(kazaa like program).

Are they catching me when I fileshare using Ares or bittorrent? Have any you guys have your ISP do this to you?

kazaa isn't the only filesharing program out there you know. It's not like if you don't use kazaa you're invincible against isps

How much bandwith are you using up a month?
How fast is your connection?
Do they have a bandwith cap policy?

Dear Parthian89;
This is Chris from your ISP. Just follow the rules of your terms of service. When we spoke, I made this very clear to you.
How do we know what you are up to? We'll, we have a hidden camera in your room and a key stroke logger on your machine.
For those of you that suggest he get another ISP, :p. We ARE the best.
Now don't forget, Parthian89. We are watching you.

Well hopefully you are not sharing illegal software and whatnot. If you are sharing music/movies, better hope it's not in the US jurisdiction :p

So they have to prove you share illegal stuff. Linux distros and sharing home made pr0n is not illegal.

Of course. Jesus. :roll: Anyone heard of packet sniffing?

Yes, but to they just single out users with lots of traffic or do they monitor constantly?

Monitoring constantly is virtually impossible on a large ISP scale. They probably monitor high bandwidth users. Either that or they got a letter from the RIAA or MPAA notifying the ISP that a movie/song/whatever was downloaded from a certain IP. Then the ISP looks up who had that IP at that time and sends you a C&D.
