Islam... Jesus neither is the Messiah nor was Allah come to Earth. The Torah and the New Testament are not holy books
Actually, in Islam Jesus is the Messiah, and his Gospel, along with Moses's Torah and David's Psalms are Islamic holy books. Also, Allah is just an Arabic term for "the God", used not just by Muslims, but also Arabic speaking Christians, Jews, and other monotheists.

Do you believe Islam has it right? If not, then how can you say the three gods are the same god?
The same way I say that the Barack Obama who I believe is a Hawaiian born Cristian and the Barack Obama who others claim is a Kenyan born Muslim are in fact the same Barack Obama.

Well, they'd have a tough time running their holocaust guilt trip on the ROTW, for starters.

Oh, those wily Jews, always using the Holocaust to justify their misdeeds. And they would have gotten away with it too, if not for you pesky western "anti-Zionist" liberals. To think what would happen if you weren't on the case.

The term Allah was used in the example because I wrote it in American English. In American English, Allah is the Islamic god. Yes, in Arabic, it simply means God, but I am not writing in Arabic.

Then you are saying he can believe it without being a Muslim by believing something which he knows is not true. Yeah, purposefully believing something you do not believe is true is always an option, but since it is stupid I did not include it as a reasonable possibility.

They should have at least destroyed the Abomination that is called the Dome of the Rock and its mosque. Get the temple to a false god off the Temple Mount.

What other 1000+ year old monuments should be destroyed? Anything related to a religion you do not believe in?

Have you been to see these mosques? They're quite beautiful and it would be a huge loss to see them destroyed, not only from a Muslim/religious perspective, but from an archeological and historical perspective as well.

They are built on the wrong spot. Move them to somewhere else then. The Muslims built them there to prevent the rebuilding of the Temple.

They will eventually be destroyed, either via an act of man or an act of God (Earthquake, whatever). It will happen. The Temple will be rebuilt on its proper spot and the House where God puts His Name will be restored.

In American English, Allah is the Islamic god.
Nope, "used in Islam", but means simply "God", and synonomus with "deity, Almighty, Author, Creator, Divinity, Eternal, Everlasting, Father, God, Godhead, Jehovah, Lord, Maker, Providence, Supreme Being, Yahweh (also Jahveh or Yahveh)", as Merriam-Webster explains.

Then you are saying he can believe it without being a Muslim by believing something which he knows is not true.
No, I'm saying that one doesn't have to agree with another's beliefs about something to be able to acknoloage the fact that they are referring to the same actual thing, be it God or anything else.

No, in reality, "The location of the Dome of the Rock was established as the site of the Islamic miracle of the Isra and Miraj by Caliph Omar ibn al Khattab, who was advised by his associate, Ka'ab al-Ahbar, a former Jewish rabbi who had converted to Islam, that Isra and Miraj took place at the site of the former Jewish Temples. "

Oh yeah, and:

In Islam, the Mount is called al-haram al-qudsī ash-sharīf, meaning the Noble Sanctuary. Muslims view the site as being one of the earliest and most noteworthy places of worship of God. For a few months in the early stages of Islam, Muhammad instructed his followers to face the Mount during prayer, as the Jews did. The site is also important as being the site of the "Farthest Mosque" (mentioned in the Qur'an as the location of Muhammad's miraculous Night Journey), and with various Hadiths emphasizing the virtue of praying at the site.

Muslim interpretations of the Qur'an agree that the Mount is the site of a Temple built by Sulayman, considered a prophet in Islam, that was later destroyed.[80] After the construction, Muslims believe, the temple was used for the worship of one God by many prophets of Islam, including Jesus.[81][82][83] Other Muslim scholars have used the Torah (called Tawrat in Arabic) to expand on the details of the temple.

I just want to say that I do not feel the Islamic world is mature enough to handle nuclear weapons. Their house is insufficiently in order.

I do not care for religion of any stripe, but at least Christianity has been beaten into submission and forced to take it's proper place in the background of western civilization. Islam is Christianity several hundred years ago, prior to any of this watering down it so desperately needs.

I do not trust people who believe in the supernatural to control nuclear weapons. Yes I realize most people in the US who are in control of nuclear weapons assert belief in the supernatural, but the people in the Islamic world really believe this stuff. Christians in the west merely claim to believe it, in most cases they no longer really do. Going through the motions.

Countries are controlled by people who believe in their supernatural, religion is used, if necessary, to control the citizens. If you had a chance to visit Iran you would be much suprised to see how mature the country and the citizens are and would be equally suprised at the power play and the use of symbolism going on in the politics. Anyway, Israel is a country of Judaic Sheriah and you don't seem much concerned about their religous zealotary. That is the common standart you percieve when you say Islamic countries are 300 years behind. It may be turn other way around very quickly, history is full of suprises.

No reasonable person who's studied history at all actually believes that if Iran was given a half dozen nukes tomorrow, say, that they'd do anything but announce it and sit on them for eternity. They will not preemptively strike Israel when (eventually they will) get them. It is totally illogical and not bound in reason whatsoever for a nation to commit suicide in such a definite manner.

I worry that Iran is putting itself into a position that would pull russia and china into a conflict with the U.S. and israel.

Russia and China are not impressed with U.S. imperialism. One reason why china backs north korea, is because china does not want U.S. bases right up against the border of China.

To invade Iran would be to encroach closer to the borders of russia and china.

With the U.S. missile shield being deployed in Europe, russia is rather upset. Putin said russia might strike the missile shield if he feels threatened.

<sigh> Not THIS again.

Repeat after me - Russia and China will NOT go to war with the US over an insignificant country such as Iran. They have far more to lose than gain.

Correct. The ruling clerics know that using nukes means they must be invaded and anhilliated to a man. They want nukes to be invasion proof, not to attack others. Personally, if I was them I would want nukes too. As a citizen of a nation which wants Iran turned into a democracy, I do not want Iran to obtain nukes - that removes one method of doing such.

You really don`t understand much about religions do you?

More than you, obviously. The different perspectives of the 3 Abrahamic religions is very similar to the parable about the blind men & the elephant- it's the same elephant, with each of the blind men only perceiving a part of the whole.

As a citizen of a nation which wants to control Iran's oil and not care about if they have democracy better not. I corrected your sentence. If your country even cared a bit about who has democracy or not you would have cut relations with Saudi Arabia ages ago. Do you really believe your country has best motives on world issues ?

Why would we cut ties with a nation as a way to foster democracy? That makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.

So because I didn't give an exhaustive list of everything in the world that concerns me, you gleaned that Israel does not?

I have no love for Israel whatsoever. Setting up that country in that region was unnecessary, and stupid, and has caused nothing but trouble. I do not respect the notion that people need to identify themselves by their religion and have a special land for themselves. I do not respect Israel's posture toward their neighbors, and unwillingness to make a real effort at peace.

Their religious zealotry concerns me, as does the religious zealotry within my own country (the US) and religious zealotry of all stripes, in all places. I am able to discern which variety should concern me most though. If I learned that someone had released a black widow, a brown recluse, and 3 mildly venomous lesser breeds of spiders into my house, I wouldn't be pleased about any of it but I would have the sense to be most concerned about the black widow, then the brown recluse... etc.

And to the eskimo smartass who tried to distill what I'd said into some douchey "oh i don't intend to read anyone else's thoughts" crap, no... try again. I saw the topic and was impatient about weighing in, I did read the other replies after posting mine. The reason for the disclaimer was in case I ended up saying something others had already covered.

Judaic Shariah? There is no such beast. Shariah is ISLAMIC LAW. There is no Judaic Islamic Law. Islamic Law requires a person to believe Mohammed is The Prophet while Judaism requires a person to believe Mohammed is a false prophet. Just correcting an obviously flawed statement, meant to insult Judaism but is actually filled with blatant ignorance instead.

Back to discussing Iran not realizing Pakistan is an Islamic nation (in the same way that the US is a Christian nation).

The thing that Iran fails to remember, is that even if they have a dozen nukes, the first time they use one, they'll be annihilated. Sent back to the Dark Ages. As in, "Nuke 'em till they glow, then shoot 'em in the dark!!"

Pretty much what Pakistan and India learned, after pushing their nuclear muscle up to (almost) the brink of war.....when China and the USA stepped in, and pretty much told them that whoever started the shit wouldn't live to brag about it.

Don't mess with the big kids on the block. :hmm:

Muslims have a monopoly on destroying monuments that are not Islamic. They are also the most intolerant religion on Earth today, bar none.

Color me confused, as original Sharia law came straight from the pages of the Jewish old testament chapter and verse. As Jesus said, 700 years before Mohammed birth, let he with who is without sin cast the first stone. As stoning and other sharia law punishments was very popular among Jews in the century zero of the day.

As for the more modern government in Israel, they have evolved and now have far more clever ways to justify brutality, injustice, and theft.

Hardly a unique human nature trait, as it lies at the core of all humans regardless of religion. Any abstract concept of universal equal human rights is always easily trumped by greed.

Sharia Law comes straight out of the mind of Mohammed as written in the Quran and other Islamic holy books. Mohammed is a false prophet and is not found inside the Tanakh. Some things are obviously going to be similar, just like the US has laws against murder and has a judicial system, both of which are also found in the Tanakh.

Jesus said that, yes, but you do not understand what was happening at that time. The people brought forth only the woman but NOT the man. The Tanakh says BOTH must be stoned. To stone only one is to violate the Tanakh. They did this for two reasons - first is that the Romans forbid capital punishment for all groups but themselves and second ws to have Jesus violate the Tanakh. He was saying to them "you know you only brought the woman for stoning in violation of the Tanakh, so go ahead and stone her if you wish to consumate your violation with your action." They knew He was right and walked away unhappily.

Remarkably uninformed or just dishonest.

Sharia is largely derived from the Torah, particularly the use of stoning as punishment-

The Jews brought to the Prophet a man and a woman from among them who had committed illegal sexual intercourse. The Prophet said to them, "How do you usually punish the one amongst you who has committed illegal sexual intercourse?" They replied, "We blacken their faces with coal and beat them." He said, "Don't you find the order of Ar-Rajm (i.e. stoning to death) in the Torah?" They replied, "We do not find anything in it." 'Abdullah bin Salam (after hearing this conversation) said to them, "You have told a lie! Bring here the Torah and recite it if you are truthful." (So the Jews brought the Torah). And the religious teacher who was teaching it to them, put his hand over the Verse of Ar-Rajm and started reading what was written above and below the place hidden with his hand, but he did not read the Verse of Ar-Rajm. 'Abdullah bin Salam removed his (i.e. the teacher's) hand from the Verse of Ar-Rajm and said, "What is this?" So when the Jews saw that Verse, they said, "This is the Verse of Ar-Rajm." So the Prophet ordered the two adulterers to be stoned to death, and they were stoned to death near the place where biers used to be placed near the Mosque. I saw her companion (i.e. the adulterer) bowing over her so as to protect her from the stones.

In Islam, the legal & moral justification for stoning is part of the Isra'iliyat of the Hadith, but has no actual basis in the Quran itself.
