Islam: Do they all think Osama Bin Laden is a martyr?

If you are a Christian white kid, please do not post (unless you actually know).

I would like to get some REAL Ismalic people's opinions here.

A friend and I are debating this issue.

Yeah.... ok, do they sympathize with him and think what he did was "good for the religion?"

There is such a thing as Christian Extremist. I don't see how its any different for the Islamic religion.

One isn't hiring mercenaries and shooting rockets at the others innocents. 😕

What's there to say actually? I think what he is doing is GOOD for his INTERPERTATION of religion. My belief of Islam is totally different than his. I myself am a Sunni Muslim, we generally believe that after Muhhammed the Messenger of Allah died, his best friend had taken his role to spread the Message of Islam. While Shiite Muslims believe that after Muhhammed the Messenger of Allah died, HIS brother took over the role of spreading of Islam (ie. Catholics - Protestants)

That argument can be sought out for generations to come. Truthfully I don't care about what some "spoiled" rich Saudi Arabian boy thinks about the US and how he deems the world as evil. My parents do not approve of his actions, my Mosque in NYC does not endorse or even RECOGNIZE Usama Bin Laden as a Muslim (for the sole reason that he was part of a mission to KILL people, innocent or not so innocent) That just goes against the same commandments that was bestowed unto the Jews and Christians. Killing is wrong in Islam, just as it is in Other religions, I don't think ANY religion supports Killing of others.

Let this be known as fact. To the Educated Muslims He is NOT a MUSLIM at all, but using ISLAM as a TOOL to get into power, and wreak havoc among Muslims and other people alike. He is only seeking attention, and the MORE the MEDIA looks onto him, the MORE he DOES. This is the "Boy who Cried Wolf" syndrome. He just wants people to listen and will do whatever means neccessary to achieve that goal. Pretty tragic for a guy looking for fame.

Unfortunately there is also a great depression in this world and a lot of resentment towards the Western countries and Usama and his gang easily round up "supporters" that want to HELP cleanse the world so ALLAH will grant them Mercy and have them a place in heaven. This is utter bull, and typically the people they round up are young impressionable people, mostly who are school dropouts, the poor, people tired of being told what to do. The Al Quada give them Duties that ALLAH wants them to accomplish and we get what we see today.

Muslims in communities are outraged at his actions just like any one else out there. But Muslims in the US are either scared of what happens if they speak out, usually have jobs to look after and families, really Muslims are passifists because of our religion. We accept things as they are, were not used to the American way of life and the liberties granted to us. We accept change, but it takes much time. Don't expect RALLIES from Muslims or big gatherings. The rallies, marches you see on CNN that are burning American flags, tarnishing Americans are all SETUP from AL Quada, or GOVTS against the US. Its just publicity, those are people who ARE Radicals by their own right. Frankly I wouldn't like to be around them myself.

So in closing I think Usama really tarnishes the name of Islam and all it stood for and will stand for in the future. Usama has only 1 goal, but I do see however the tactics he uses in his struggle for power. He likes the attention, he likes to make a mockery out of the US, and wants ISLAM to rule the world. Islam was not created to RULE the world, or be FORCED down people's throats. Its about acceptance. The Kuran was the third and last Holy Book sent by Allah to replace the Torah and the New Testament. Its really just an addition. Islam is not at all different than the latter too books, just an addition to make things right. There is NO Holy war, no need for Crusades. Only Peace and Love. People experience that every day, no matter if your Richie rich or a victim of poverty. Love from family and neigbors is the same love that Allah bestows on its people.

exactly. what most people don't understand is that the extreme form Islam practiced by Bin Laden and Al Qaeda DOES NOT accept other "corrupted" forms of Islam to be legitimate.

For instance, in 1994, by way of the World Islamic Front (the religious wing of Al Qaeda that makes legitimizes their goals) ... they issued a fatwa that said it is the duty of all Muslims to kill Americans and Jews. This is clearly against the teachings of what most Muslims believe (Islam is peaceful and tolerant of other groups). Do all Muslims believe this? certainly not the ones in the US. do they all sympathize with Bin Laden? no.

making blanket statements that include the word "all" should be very carefully thought out. are all asians good at math? hrm. im not!!

Thank you KGB. That's the best post on this subject that I've ever seen here, and it answered a lot of questions about Islam.

First I gigled, then I shook my head. KGB made a very informative post! It actually calms my nerves a bit. It's what American Muslims (and most others) think.

KGB
First off THANKS! And a question. How hard is it for Muslim's to adjust to the Western way of life. Maybe some various groups.
1) Someone from a very muslim country with laws related to the muslim religion that just moved to America.
2) Same as 1, but what does that person think 5,10,20 years later?
3) What about someone born in the US to a Muslim family. How does growing up in the western culture and being toguht to be a devought Muslim at home effect them?

Those are some jump off topics I am curious of. I know it may stereotyping, and I will not be offended if you say so. I realize that we're all individuals with individual ideas, beliefs and morals.

Good. That's all the reaction I deserve.
Since my opinion on anything is completely meaningless by my own admission I must make an ass out of myself just to know I am alive. Some or all of that previous sentence are song lyrics.

BTW, that was a great post. I wish it was a message we heard more often from the Islamic community. However, I have a inexplicable aversion to repeating praise for fear that I will be recognised for the sheep that I am.

Bah.

KGB, Muslims in communities may be scared to speak out to Anglo americans, but most of my Pakistani friends condone what he did, and some even say the Jews are responsible.

Any people that want to kill me because I don't want to convert to Islam or whatever else religion just might die from their beliefs.....

Guy I knew from school who was born in Egypt and only in recent years moved to Canada and is pretty big into Islam right after 9/11 said "You know we're not like that and you have seen how kind we are to guests.", or something along those lines. In short he surely doesn't think that Bin Laden is/was a martyr.

Thanks KGB for explaining why they're arn't rallies in the streets by Islams over here. That has been a question in mine and some of my buddies at works mind for a while. I printed this thread for them. Keep it comming.

KGB, your post was informative and enlightening. You obviously have insight that most of us don't. Please post more of your thoughts.

Is Allah the same god worhipped by christians or is Allah the moon good represented by the crescent moon shape? I ask because I had thought the former but I'm reading things that claim the later.

"I don't think ANY religion supports Killing of others." - KGB

Yet how many people have died in wars over religious issues??

I do not support organized religion for this reason and because so many are hypocrites. (IMHO)

However, I would not try to force my view down other peoples throats. For all I care people can practice whatever religion they want as long as it doesn't infringe on other people's rights.
