That's what the propaganda films told us anyways right? ;)

No, that's what mass suicides by civilians upon orders from the Emperor along with endless waves of Japanese soldiers charging interlocking machine gun fire in suicidal fervor during the island hopping days told us. Also captured civilians told U.S. soldiers they were told that Americans would rape them, kill their babies for entertainment, and all sorts of other lies.

When offered food and water U.S. soldiers would have to eat and drink first they were so convinced it was poisoned, another lie they were told. On the mainland they were told to fight to the death with hand tools for the emperor, all lending credence to the estimated 2+ million deaths a land invasion would have caused.

That's why all the military forces involved are doing what they are doing.
This is as quick as it gets

The Kurds have continuously pleaded for western assistance via reinforcements. And if that's not possible they have pleaded for arms and ammunition. They are unfortunately used to having the west turn their backs on them, which did have the side effect of the quick response and organization by the Kurds as they knew not to count on outside assistance in a timely manner.

Most organized military efforts are simply aimed at protecting civilian population centers rather than taking the fight directly to ISIS which is what I referred to. There have been exceptions of forces retaking lost territory but there is countless square miles where ISIS operates with impunity.

I fully welcome any conversation regarding ISIS and related issues in this thread.

The recent U.S. raid that killed ISIS financier Abu Sayyaf used Delta Force as many suspected, today that's confirmed along with other new details. British SAS troops played a valuable role, but had to wear U.S. uniforms and use U.S. guns.

No U.S. or British soldiers were killed, and they rescued a yazidhi slave girl in the raid.

First few paragraphs:

British Special Forces have taken part in a ferocious battle to kill a Syrian-based “Islamic State commander” – even though Parliament has yet to approve any UK ‘boots on the ground’ in the country. The SAS troops ( Special Air Service) joined US Forces on the mission in May this year. To keep their participation a secret, they wore US uniforms and carried American weapons.

The elite Special Air Service soldiers were flown into the country’s Deir ez-Zor governorate in a US Osprey aircraft before carrying out a daring reconnaissance mission near the compound of top ISIS financier Abu Sayyaf.

News of the British role in the mission, disclosed today for the first time, comes as The Mail on Sunday reports details of a plot, originating in Syria, to kill the Queen.

In response to this, the SAS has increased its operational tempo in the war-torn country to try to eliminate individuals who pose a direct threat to UK security.

It is a slap in the face to let these SAS troops risk their lives in order to eliminate threats to the U.K. yet they have to wear American uniforms rather than their own.

Of course their professionalism had them perform their duties superbly and they probably didn't complain but the political situation that caused this is bullshit and the British parliament should be ashamed.

I bet this story will convice 1.2% more americans that arming ISIS and then invading the middle east again was indeed the correct solution.

Even the Taliban Is Disgusted by the Islamic State's Latest Video

In the latest example of the ongoing battle for supremacy between the insurgent groups, the Taliban issued a strongly-worded response on Tuesday denouncing the IS propaganda video, which appeared on jihadi social media forums on Sunday.

"A horrific video was released yesterday showing kidnappers who associate themselves with Daesh [IS] brutally martyring several white-bearded tribal elders and villagers with explosives," said a statement posted on the Taliban's website and translated by Reuters.
