Here's what I know and I've pretty much verified it by all my friends that do smoke. Smoking weed is bad. It's not the fact that it gets you high that's bad though, rather, it's cause you're smoking it. Look at it this way,
Cigarettes have nicotine
Marijuana has d9-THC
Both are actually relatively harmless in the dosages normally consumed at, but the kicker is, that whenever you inhale anything that's been burnt, you inhale tar and carbon and multiple carcinogens because you just burnt organic matter. Hence, people will chew nicotine gum or wear a nicotine skin patch. On the other hand, people bake with marijuana or cut some of the organic matter by using hash oil instead of buds.
BTW, smoking through a water pipe or a bong is the number one, dead on absolute worst way to consume marijuana. It wastes more THC than any other way and you inhale way more carcinogens from it. It's not cause of the method, but rather, you have to burn more weed to get the same high. Why? because THC is water soluble and as the smoke passes through the water, some of it gets transferred into the water while all the nastier carcinogens don't. Besides, this is a computer forum, you'd think we'd all know of a better way to cool off the smoke than mere water wouldn't ya? I mean, we cool processors that can cook eggs and we can't figure out how to cool off smoke? Also, THC is alcohol soluble...think of the possibilities...jk
The generally accepted best and healthiest way to consume weed is vaporization, which is using soft heat as opposed to a flame. It vaporizes the THC and, if done with perfect accuracy, doesn't produce any tar or nicotine or whatnot. Or you might want to cook with it. The only requisite for getting high is that you activate the THC with heat before consumption.
Finally, just to get the record straight according to one of my friends(he got real agitated, so pleze bear with). Hydro is NOT a type of Bud. The bud you smoke when you smoke Hydro is actually just a variation of the normal high quality bud like kb or whatnot. Hydro is a reference to the way it's grown. It's grown in a hydroponics setup where you don't rely on soil or whatnot, but it grows in straight fluid. That way, you can closely control and exactingly modify the growing conditions. The end result is that you get very well grown product at almost 33% less time. The fact is, though, that if you use the right seeds and monitor your soil daily, you can grow weed that is leagues better in terms of thc/lb content.
just my(and a friends) two cents**would that make it 4 cents?** If I am misinformed, I'm sure someone will post otherwise.
