Some of you need to pull your panties from your crack. Sure Tijuana is dangerous, it always has been. Don't get too drunk and don't wander into unknown areas and you will be fine. Last time I was there, a few years ago, the US Border agent gave me a bunch of crap because I came back across the border alone, telling me what a bad idea that was. I asked the border agent "have you ever been to Oakland?". There are areas in the US more dangerous than Tijuana (our capital Washington, D.C. being one).

Tijuana, population 1.2 million, saw one slaying a day in 2006 and roughly two kidnappings a week. The murder rate for a city of Tijuana's size is not huge. Some U.S. cities have a larger murder rate, including Washington, D.C.

Oscar Escobedo Carignan announced a public relations initiative to improve the city's image.
The negative portrayals are unfair, he said, blaming the media and citing per-capita crime figures that he said supported his case:
"We [Tijuana] finish with 20 homicides per 100,000 people. Brazil gets 150 homicides, and they get the Olympics"
