I think it'll make a lot more sense when I get home and start drinking.

I don't understand people who wash their cars by hand.

It takes me about 5 hours to wash my car, but about 5 minutes and 5 bucks to wash it at car wash.

Just spend the 5 bucks.

Washing by hand may get a "bit" cleaner, but a car is a piece of machinery, it doesn't need to be sterile.

I think depends on where you live. Vancouver rain might be fine. Here in L.A., you'd be washing your car in very acidic and dirty water. Regardless, I think your neighbors might think you're a little cuckoo.

5 hours to wash your car........ what do you have ......... an 18 wheeler. I can wash my car in 30 minutes. Great exercise also :)

Washing a car by hand is a lot cleaner since most car washes here are the no touch jet spray types.

5 hours?

I've never been to any car wash than can do a better job than what I can do myself in 20 minutes.

No kidding. Spending 5 hours to wash (not wax) a car is idiotic. That's about as dumb as attempting to scan 700 maga......ah, nevermind. ;) :D

You are a moron. Washing it by hand gets the car way cleaner.

Washing your house by hand may get it cleaner too, but tell me, does a house or a car really need to be that clean?

Unless you have a "show car" of some sort, you don't need it that clean.

A typical 5 dollar wash will protect it from rust and dirty and will maintain the value. Going extra and washing it by hand will not improve any further than that.

I guess it depends on how into cars you are and how much you care for it. If I had a cavalier or something that didn't mean as much to me I would just bring it to the coin wash.

Yea but whenever I take my car to those car washes it gets blasted water streaks and it never cleans my side mirrors very well nor does it get the road grime off my tires very well, nor can it clean the inside of my doors...

Two things.

1. Take it two a different car wash, that one sucks. The one I go to cleans those areas well enough.

2. It doesn't need to be perfectly clean. It's a piece of machinery. Almost no matter what you drive (unless it's something really nice, which I doubt), your car will be sitting on a corner used car lot selling for the low to mid 4 digits in about 5 years. It doesn't need to be pampered.

Meh last post before I leave for the evening, I dont mind pampering my car even if it's getting old I enjoy handwashing necessary or not. Although I consider washing the inside of my doors necessary because I drive up north often which is all dirt roads up there so lots of dirt/dust/grime gets in that area.

People are creatures of habit and some people enjoy washing their cars, heck around here in Michigan especially in the summer it's not uncommon for people to handwash because it's an opportunity to be outside and working and breaking a sweat, some people, like myself enjoy that.

Wintertime however I pay the 5 bucks

I only washed it by hand a few times just to see how long it would take and just "how" clean I could get it.

I concluded that the slight difference in cleanliness was not worth the 5 hour effort.

What year, make , model, and color to you drive? Just curious.

I know that I have never seen my silver mustang look clean when going through a quicky wash.

I drive an ultra luxurious 2002 Infiniti QX4.

And my car is nicer than most peoples, but I do not have this notion that it's some sort of "show car" and it needs to be "waxed," and "vaccumed," and "tires filled all the way with air," and all these other things the car-obsessed do with their most unimpressive cars.

Do you also not "change the oil" or "put gas in the tank" either.

i will NEVER take my car to a drive through car wash. it causes scratches in the paint. no matter what you say, it does, it doesnt get the car NEARLY as clean, and it doesnt allow you to inspect your car while washing it...

its about PRIDE, and feeling PROUD of what you spent YOUR money on...

(/me waits for something said about my car)
