thats about ehat my IQ is like (Hp 215) It looks a LOT better if you take it @ the highest resolution, anbd then scale it down to a lower resolution, believe me.

Is that on the best quality and highest resolution? Check again in your setup, just to be sure. It's quite good, just barely less sharp than a what 1.3 can be, I think, but good nonetheless. My Kodak 1.3 is just a wee bit sharper, but I've got everything cranked right up. Although, with all those lines mine would probably look a little worse, who knows.

looks like it's compressed.. something is not right
you should retake it with Infinite zoon on

I have Canon S100 Elph 2.1 Megapixel... with Macro mode, close up shots look incredibly sharp, crisp with amazing detail (very happy with my cam)

~andy<just where did u take this? must be Cali.. judging from the Palm trees.. they're weird to look at in East coast>

well if u want photo quality, thats 300dpi:p so u need atleast a 3-4mega pixel for 6x4 prints i think and 7mega pix for 8x10:p i think we're up to 5-6mega pixel now

your 1.3mega pixel is a glorified webcam:)

man.. how's it like living there?? Isn't the island really small? don't you feel like ur trapped? stores and everything must be pretty limited (of course they aren't but, must feel weird)

I'd love to visit Hawaii..

it's definitely grainy.. it's undeniably noticable in the 2nd pic.. (bottom right, the house)

it really feels like a glorious webcam.. and looks compressed..

get at leaset 2.1 megapixel..

also, it's not even the pixels, the ability of the camera to capture the image isn't great at all...the quality and colors aren't vibrant and dynamic as it should be..

~andy<wants to post my own pix using Canon S100 Elph but too lazy>

I've got the Finepix 1300 too and for some reason the quality sux on the highest resolution.
All the pictures I take at 640x480 are crisp, but at 1280x960 they are like the picture you put up.

Doesn't really bother me as I just bought it as a toy, if I want decent photos I still use a proper camera.

Any 1.3MP digicam would have trouble with the buildings because of the lack of resolution. Sky has quite a bit of noise though...usually it shouldn't get noisy until the light is low. I think fuji improved it with the Finepix 1400. Basically the same features as the 1300, just a newer model.

I snagged the 2300 during in this $159.00 Hot Deal, but unloaded it unopened. I can't imagine getting a decent picture from a lens the size of your little fingernail. The 1300 didn't get great endorsements either. I'll hold out for something better, even if I have to wait for a hot deal on it.

Try mounting that 1300 on a tripod to see what it's fully capable of. Perhaps you could trade up for a better camera if you just bought it.

They look great to me.

My mother has the Finepix 1300 and we have a Finepix 1400 here at work. I think the pix are great. Especially for the price. :)

I like the hardware zoom on the 1400.

the res of 1280x960 is what's probably causing it.

I have a 3.3 megapixel.. at half res its 1024x768 at full res its 2048x1536

Now if its a 1.3 go for a resolution of 640.480 at the max else800x600 max. Your seeing a distortion cause at that high resolutions the camera isnt made for that. 1.3 megapixel is made for lower res. The 1280x960 is done by camera electonics where its bumping the gain and doubling the pixels.

I would suggest a lower res and photograph at the highest settings, but use lower res.

To prove my point.

http://home.earthlink.net/~tkbose/party/----> Taken with my 3.3at half res (cause I wanted to take lots of photos but ifoundmyself low on battery - At full reseachfile is about a meg)

http://www.geocities.com/microbose/me_and_bike.jpg---> myself and my bike.. taken at full res 2048x1536 and reduced to 640x480
