Built a new system recently and installed a Lucent winmodem (please, let's not rehash the winmodem vs. hardware modem issue. I've never had a problem with a Lucent modem until this one). When I run diagnostics, the system detects it fine. When I try to fax or connect to my ISP, I get a "No Dial Tone" error. I've checked the connections and made sure it's plugged into the right jack on the back of the modem. I've replaced the phone line. I've unchecked the box that says "Wait for dial tone to begin dialing" in Properties. I've plugged in a phone to the modem and the phone has worked fine. This is a new modem. The last modem I had was identical and worked flawlessly. Is there any thing else I can try before stomping this modem into pieces?
