Two games this year where a team didn't punt the entire game...both against the cowgirls (other time was against Denver)...

That firing of their D coordinator is looking oh so good in hind sight.

I live south of Chicago. I know about 20 bears fans.

Might be regional. Shrug. I just don't wanna see gobs of cash go towards cutler when teh defense needs bolstering. O-line finally rocks, 2 great receivers, a great TE, a great back.. and defense goes to shit.

There is tons of cap space to be had.

Peppers will NOT make 18 mil next year, and Tillman's 8 mil is also off the books.

They're not going to pay Bush almost 4 mil to fall forward.

Different year, same ole Cowboys. Choking after Thanksgiving holiday and in December, just like they have been for years.

I still maintain my stance that the hit on Gronk was dirty. T.J. Ward didn't just go low, he went way low. I know all about the rules about not going high now, but thugs now use that as an excuse to take out players knees and give the old "Well, what was I supposed to do?! I can't go high!" excuse like there is no between zone (everyone on ESPN uses the same lame excuse). Maybe it was the only way for him to stop Gronk in that instance, but he should still be fined 100k and be suspended one game.

I don't think the Patriots would have made it far even with Gronk, but he certainly elevates that team a lot.

Wasn't dirty IMO. The only way you make sure you down a big TE like Gronk is to take them out like that. You try and arm tackle or go mid-chest and he's most likely going to shrug you off. Taking out the big strong players low is normal. It was just unfortunate his helmet hit directly in the knee.

I just saw the Gronk hit for the first time. To me - It was low, but not dirty.

I'm not sure how you solve this. How else can you tackle a guy that size if you're a little DB? I would love for all defensive players to drive through the torso but I'm not sure that DB would have done anything but bounce off of Gronk.

Trestman: Hey Jay, we are ready for you to start. Follow me
Cutler: Sweet!
*they both walk for a while*
Trestman: Ok Cutler, the spotlight is waiting for you right through this door
Cutler: Ummm, why is there and exit sign above the door?

Ugh. I hope we just tank the rest of the season and absolutely bomb next. I don't know how else to get it through Jerry's mind that he sucks as a GM, and our coaching staff sucks. He was quoted a few weeks back saying the ownership structure doesn't allow for someone else to be GM - no no, you won't allow anyone else to be GM. I can't figure out how else we get that message through Jerry's stubborn head without just completely sucking. The mediocrity of 8-8 or consistently missing the playoffs isn't enough, apparently.

It's not dirty for sure, but I'd sure like a return to the days of ACTUAL tackling. You know, shoulder into the torso and wrap your arms around them. This turning your body into a human missile and aiming for the legs is the lazy way out and its costing players their livelihood and fans the best possible product to watch.

Gronk is the 41st player this year that's had a season ending knee injury which is up 64% from 2011 when the fines and high tackle rules starting really going into effect.

If you think Jerry Jones is going to give up GM, you haven't been a Cowboy fan for long. =( It will only get worse when he dies, as his is going to take and is even crazier than Jerry.

I think regardless of the outcome, the defensive coordinator will be fired (as he should...). Dallas needs to do some serious rebuilding of their defensive core. Even with the injuries to the front 7, their DBs are awful.

Why can't Mark Cuban buy the Cowboys?

I highly doubt they will cut Cutler, they just might not offer him a large contract at the end of the year. They surely won't go with McCown; he is older than Cutler! They will keep him though, as a back up. It is always a good idea to have a decent vet as a backup (ask Indy before Luck and GB this year).

Most knee injuries have been non-contact this year.

We recorded eight of these 32 ACL injuries resulting from contact: Besides Keller’s, examples included a knee crashed into at the line of scrimmage, or one offensive lineman accidentally cut-blocking his own teammate, as happened with Pittsburgh’s David DeCastro and Maurkice Pouncey. The other 24 ACL injuries we classified as non-contact injuries. West says that studies show about 70 percent of ACL tears result from non-contact injuries; our unofficial sample, showing 75 percent non-contact injuries, is on par with that figure

I wonder if has anything to do with the new turf? I know a lot of players were complaining about it. I figured it was like soccer where every world cup, everyone complains about the new ball; and it has pretty much no obvious effect on the game. The good teams still win; the bad teams still cry; everyone still flops.

I don't fault tacklers from going low, especially on large receivers / running backs. Sure, it can sometimes cause injuries, but so can pretty much every other hit.

People are blaming the turf, cleats, not having the off season workouts/training camps of the past. Its probably a cumulation of all of the above in some way.

+ PEDS that make muscle stronger at the risk of weakening connective tissues. All those things above plus that = bad juju

If that is the case, NFL players should start Yoga. It, apparently, works great for wrestlers. Despite having predetermined outcomes to matches and the moves not intending to cause damage, they put themselves through a lot of physically brutal stuff. And, with no regulation, they all do steroids.

I remember way back in the 80's there were some NFL specials on players attending ballet classes for exactly that reason - stretching and balance.

I really do think there is a bad combination of things adding up to these injuries. It's not just the turf. There is so much physical competition that players are pushing the limits on what the human body can take as far as strength training. They are making their bodies so strong that the stuff that holds them together (ligaments/tendons) can't take the added stress. And I really do think there are some substances out there either not being tested for, or flying under the radar that are adding to the problem by either weakening or making connective tissues more brittle/rigid.

It is not even about testing. Players can get their bladders drained via catheter and refilled with clean urine. There are ways to beat tests. I read about a doctor that implanted a tube of blood where his artery was supposed to be to fool a DNA test in a murder trial. It worked! Eventually, he was caught and the story came out (they tried to draw blood again and it was old, because he never removed the tube).

I think the players will continue to get hurt until they find a way to balance the stress to the body while still remaining competitive. Or, Goodell will make the NFL a flag football league.

I know this sounds crazy and unlikely, but are there any Redskins fans out there thinking about trading RG3? The picks they could get would be crazy, but I suspect Shannon will go and ownership will see how RG3 performs under a different coaching regime.

On NFL Live , they were discussing how it appears RG3 is simply not mentally prepared. I immediately thought of Russell Wilson's mantra: "Separation is in the preparation."

I'm not sure anyone would give anything close to what they had to pay for RGIII at the moment.

I think they're stuck.

I don't think they should trade him just yet. I think he has the talent and just needs preparation. Look at Cam Newton. This is his first winning season in the NFL.

RG3 suffered a lot because with him, the Redskins did well. Then, he over extended himself to win in the playoffs and got hurt. That cost him a lot. He missed a lot. Next season, with a full off season and some of the pressure taken off him (I mean really, they only have to win 4 games to be better than this year) and he will come into his own.
