It was roughly four years ago when a heated conversation between the past President (Bush senior), current President (Clinton), and future President (George W. Bush) exploded into the national media. It all started when the Presidential campaign was heating up (I believe in July). George W. Bush rightly criticized Bill Clinton (not sure what it was). Seeing that he was a second-term lame-duck President, I expected Clinton to stay above the attack and continue about his business as President. But, mistakenly, he attacked George W. Bush. That brought an attack from Bush senior. When Clinton refused to let the conversation die, Bush senior made a very powerful, but implicit, threat: "I'll deal with you when you get out of office." From that moment on, Clinton hasn't said anything negative about either Bush, father and son. Not only that, but he set up headquarter in New York as opposed to his native Arkansas. Clinton rarely heads to the state he governed for years.
Whether or not he patched things up with the Bushes has not entered the public domain, but one thing is certain, Bill Clinton stood down in a very public and embarrasing manner. Add to the fact that his own Vice President (wrongly) didn't respect him enough to ask for his advice during the Presidential campaign and one has to wonder how fractured the Democratic Party really is?
