Disagree about the college thing.
I have buddies who are entrepreneurs. One made $400k in 2 months. Another is going to crack $300k by the end of this year. I'm talking profit.
There is money. A lot of money. I work with my mentor whose 25 and worth a few million. He keeps drilling into my head that there is enough money. You see, like you I've been taught to think small. That you need a college degree. That you have to follow the masses. I read an article that said 30% of college grads aren't even in the field that they studied for. We also have 1.3T in student loan debt. I have a degree. I have student loans. And, I'm seriously questioning why I even took that route. I wasted time and energy.
So Mark Z (Facebook), Bill G (Microsoft), Michael D (Dell), etc. are college dropouts yet they are multi million/billionaire ===> let drop out of college/school and be successful? Of course not. My point was back then (right after WWII and until recently), if you have the will to work, you will make a decent wage with good benefits to support your whole family by working in the factories/mining companies/etc.
Now, you have more and more of the "gigs" economy without the typical benefits of health insurance, vacation, etc. People (college grads and non) are working harder and harder just to keep their heads above the water. I know at my work place, we have to do more and more with less and less and we are not alone.
