Well, the entire point of liberals is that they do not like to hear the opinions of others. So instead of arguing why said opinion is not viable or not reasonable, they would rather shut down the event and prevent the opinion from being spoken.

Yes, I would call that soft, the fact that you can't even take an opposing opinion.
Because anything they don't like is called fake news or alternative facts.............

You got that from two sentences? Talk about entitled.
That and I know you're an old fart. As an early gen Xer, I can't see any aspect of life that is cushier today than it was when I was growing up (and some things have definitely gotten worse such as college costs) yet so many of these judgements on the millennials are coming from Xers. I don't recall storming any beaches or getting shot at any point in my life (which I'm damn well glad of) so I can't see the value of attacking millennials on this point, particularly since millennials make up the bulk of our armed forces and, in fact, are getting shot at.

Back in the day you could also get a simple warehouse or factory job straight out of high school (without even graduating) and make enough to buy a house support a family

Now those jobs are gone and you have college grads splitting houses 4-ways to make rent

I do see a lot of old people saying this, in some ways i think they are right, but times changes and the things that where difficult are an afterthought now. Also....

I don't know about being "soft" but young folks today are not handling people with opposite view/idea very well, especially in colleges.

I agree with college costs are a LOT higher now and opportunities (especially for non college grads) are not as plentiful and they are not going to get better.

Heh. Go back in time to the 50s and say that communism is just another political theory and see how "whiney" people get. Go back to the 70s and stay that being gay is a normal lifestyle and see how "whiney" people get.

Disagree about the college thing.

I have buddies who are entrepreneurs. One made $400k in 2 months. Another is going to crack $300k by the end of this year. I'm talking profit.

There is money. A lot of money. I work with my mentor whose 25 and worth a few million. He keeps drilling into my head that there is enough money. You see, like you I've been taught to think small. That you need a college degree. That you have to follow the masses. I read an article that said 30% of college grads aren't even in the field that they studied for. We also have 1.3T in student loan debt. I have a degree. I have student loans. And, I'm seriously questioning why I even took that route. I wasted time and energy.

That's kind of like saying I know a guy who won $20m playing lottery, so I'm gonna buy lottery tickets instead of going to school. It takes a special kind of person and a good chunk of luck to make it as an entrepreneur. Most are doing well if they make a lower middle class income. It can be done, but it isn't the same as learning a pedestrian skill that can be used in numerous places.

+1 Career choice regret is pointless, make the most of what you've got. If that means going back to uni or striking out at something completely different yet still playing to one of your strengths, then so be it.

Having said that, I experience career/education choice regret on a regular basis :)

Every generation thinks the one that follows is soft comparatively. Upon reflection I would have to say it is pretty much true. That said the preceding generations have no one to blame but themselves. When we raise our children to believe they are perfect and entitled to what they want when they want it we shouldn't act surprised when they behave like entitled little brats. We just reap what we sow.

It's not so retarded. People are whiny bitches anymore, and it's institutionally indulged. We can still storm beaches if we have to, but the whining over every minor slight and irregularity's got to go.

I didn't say it should be illegal. I said(implied) people should stop being little bitches. Just because you're free to do something, it doesn't mean you should ;^)

Each generation is softer than the next, until there is a need for it not to be.

I think that the USA would surprise you if we were attacked and were forced into conscripted service. Dont awake the sleeping dragon. In a way you could say that USA citizens are less physically fit than they use to be because we have more machines, better equipment, Drones that kill people from the air, satelites, ICBM's, Better warplanes, better ships, and in a way better weapons.

Since world war II we went from arial photogrophy to satellite images. Of course a lot of our enemies are terrorists and they designed their tactics to make it hard for us to spot their operatives and track their weapons. Wars are often more complicated where the enimies makes an Improvised Explsive Devices that can be buried in the road and totally destroy an armored tank when it goes over it. Plus it can be blown up using a simple cell phone. Even terrorists have superior electronic warfare devices.

LOL. Safespaces. Newsflash...they come in all forms. Fox news is a safe space. That hole in the wall bar that you belly up to each day and bitch about young people is a safe space. Staying in a small town because you go into the fetal position when you have to deal with any sort of traffic in a large city is a safe space.

EVERYONE has some form of "safe space". The internet just made it easy to meme them.
