Interesting to see if there are laws on the books for these spots. If not I'm just going to park my 1989 Isuzu Trooper, screw these modern certifications.
No there is no law at all for it.

A friend of mine got a ticket from the Amherst (near Buffalo) PD for parking in a "pregnant mother spot" at a Wegmans (a nice grocery store in NY) a few years ago. I told him to fight it, but he just paid the ~$20 ticket. I wish he had fought it so I could know if it was cool to park in those spots. I wouldn't park there out of respect, but the concept of our police departments actually patrolling those spots (it's not like they give out special stickers for the license plate -- how do they even know?) makes me sick to my stomach.
I have no objection to preggo parking.BTW, Babies R Us has special parking for the pregos.

Just curious, do you live in California?
what the heck is a low emission vehicle? My honda accord is a low emission vehicle arrcording to the manufacturer.
u fail @ hybrids. That doesn't make any sense. By taking up more close spots than legally necessary, you're forcing the high emission vehicles to travel slightly further to park. As far as saving the planet goes this is exactly the opposite of what you'd want. If anything the hybrids should have to park in the boonies and let the rest park close. That'd be more efficient overall.

I'm all for efficient vehicles and whatnot, but specific parking spaces for LEV vehicles is stupid. Yeah those ten less feet that LEV had to park will save the planet. If I ever come across one of those spots while at work, I'm going to park my ambulance in it. Enjoy a six ton V8 turbo charged diesel in your stupid LEV parking spot.
Can't remember - do In & Outs typically have drive-thrus? If so it would make more sense to limit drive-thru to LEV only. Many cars would qualify and it would actually benefit the environment in some tiny way. Of course, even better would just be to eliminate the drive-thru entirely.
Yes, they typically do have drive-thrus. In fact, I can't recall ever seeing one that didn't have a drive-thru.
Yep. Not sure on the specs to make it LEV, but my 2007 Accord is labeled as such.
The only time I've seen one of these spots in Texas, I parked in it
It is a bit silly though, the concept that you own a certain type of car so you should get a reserved parking spot wherever you go.
I like to key the word asshole into the paint of people who do things like that.
Haha, lev parking only, my ass.
I park in whatever the fuck spot I want to, except handicapped spots (because you get ticketed).
And I love to run motorcyclists that key peoples vehicles off the road. [snip].
