Additional job duties and responsibilities include:

•Installation and configuration of various application and operating systems including but not limited to Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems, SQL Server, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Information Server, and any offered or customized application software as it relates to Healthcare Solutions on various hardware platforms
•Provide general PC / network support and general application support to a distributed user base by learning all internal business applications
•Log all calls and document activities accurately in the ticketing tracking system
•Provide support to organization management and staff in support of all software and hardware problems in a timely manner to ensure minimal down time
•Ensure that all IT Policies and Procedures are followed and assists IT management in development and maintenance of policies and procedures relating to IT systems
•Test, setup, troubleshoot and support all PCs, printers, and other related IT equipment (including laptops, iPads, SmartPhones, Fax Machines, and Scanners)
•Assist in the maintenance and support of various software applications including upgrades
•Assist in various aspects of network administration as assigned by IT Management including integrating, servicing and maintaining application databases

•Provide in-depth technical assistance, customer service and training to end users
•Identify and recommend improvements and opportunities that are consistent with customer needs

Qualifications:
•Experience with HIPAA & PCI compliance preferred
•Equivalent industry certification and experience required with MCP, A+, Net +, CISSP, MCITP, CIIP, Security + and VMWare; a minimum 2 years of technical software and systems experience supporting 200+ users in multiple locations preferred
•Certification and/or equivalent experience working with MS operating systems, specifically Windows 2003/2008/2012 Servers, Windows XP, Windows 8, Linux, MS IIS/HTTP, MS Office Suite of products, MS SQL Server, and/or relational databases, XML and Access databases required
•Experience in website design and administration and possess advanced skills in reading workflow and network diagrams and technical manuals
•Advanced experience with software and hardware; MS Office Suite and experience with platforms and systems including MS Windows 7, Windows 8 and Apple (MAC)
•Advanced knowledge and experience with networking technologies (TCP/IP) and associated writing
•Working knowledge of system analysis, design, security methodologies, software installations, and trouble-shooting techniques
•Possess basic programming knowledge and experience
•Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven analytical and problem-solving skills
•Strong customer service skills and focus required; must have a can-do attitude and proven follow-through skills

I do not understand HR/Management at times...

I'd be happy to work for $35,000 a year answering phones, troubleshooting, and most importantly of all LEARNING and EARNING experience. Just not while doing $100,000+ worth of work.

assuming by "installation" they mean double clicking a .exe and clicking on "next" through all the defaults, looks like a basic entry-level support grunt to me.

qualifications are obviously overkill, though... I could probably take Joe Schmo off the street and train him to do that job in a week.
 
Depending on the area, that's close to half of what someone with 2 years experience in those areas could make.

Of course the job likely doesn't actually require strong knowledge of those things (SQL, server, VM, security, etc.). This sounds like a help desk job that occasionally touches the higher areas and $35K is probably closer to reality.

Ok, so it's a hospital (or at least health care related position). Is it a field service job or system admin job? Take out about three of those dotted requirements and it's a classic help desk/field service position.

But their presence there also changes the entire job description and adds about $20k to the salary.
 
Yeah it kind of does. Strangely enough I think that for a higher paying job that list would be a hell of a lot shorter and more specialized. The guy who has to do everything is generally not paid very well to do it in my experience.
 
OP, that seems vastly underpaid starting to me. They are looking for someone right out of college to take a mid level position to be a "jack of all, master of nothing". This basically reads like my position and I started out at far greater wage than that.

This means they want someone with an H1-B visa that they can use for slave labor for three years.

$43k is the minimum H1-B. At least it was for the position we hired for, I don't know if that is universal bottom dollar for every H1-B worker. Made for fun times as the only secret at our business is wages, and everyone knew hers.
 
Lots of fluff in those requirements, job is probably entry level help desk in reality. That is still low to me, at least in my location, but I still get emails about help desk jobs for hilarious rates like $13/hr so who knows these days.
 
Indians and Chinese do it for the fraction of that cost... get off your high horse.

Maybe on the phone 10k miles away in bad English with a poor understanding of the job. No one does that well, in person, for a 'fraction' of 35k. 35k is what, $17 an hour? My first help desk job out of college paid 45k.
 
Its been the chronic unemployment, until it gets around 3% there are simply more people looking for work that will accept lower wages. Hell when I worked at ATT they started to want MBA graduates to run wireless stores. The salary was good but not MBA kind of good new graduates still took the jobs.
 
For additional lulz, a minumum wage non skilled laborer earning $15/hr will clear 31k a year.
 
It's a help desk job really, they are out of their minds though thinking all those certifications will be in someone just doing help desk work.

This is what rubs my hide. Minimum wage is getting bumped up to $15/hr in a few places, while these technical skilled jobs, sometimes requiring a 4-year degree, are paid the same figure. If minimum wage gets increased, everyone's pay should go up by the same percentage.

The job description OP posted describes my job pretty well as a Level 2 Systems Tech. You're not doing most of that stuff often. Just stuff that involves it whenever it comes up. I make about the same (a little less, actually), as a contractor.

So, they are serious about hiring someone with those skills and that pay, because they can. That's the joke.

Sadly it doesn't work like that and this is why raising the minimum wage drastically is actually something that hurts everyone.

This is your basic help desk job. 35k only applies if you have a college degree. Otherwise, its a 28k a year job.
