Where could we get more RAM later on and for cheaper? Would we have to get the exact same brand, etc.?

Yeah, your motherboard will come with integrated sound. It's not going to be quite as nice as a dedicated soundcard, but see what you think first.

You could get ram from pretty much any online computer type store.

It doesn't have to be an exact match, but it would be a good idea to get the same product for the best compatability with dual channel.

I think this might be what you have selected right now

I read it over and saw mention of games! You lied Jen :frown::)

Here's a benchmark to decide which gpu is better for sims2. Doesn't look like it's that intensive, a 6600gt or x700pro, as they said, will do fine.

If he's playing Age of Empires III though you might want to reconsider that 7800gt :)

You probably already ordered though, so I just wasted some time.

But that's fine

One of my favourite uses of time is to waste it.

A 7800GT would be lovely, but i think it's approaching overkill here, you never miss eyecandy if you never have it to start with.

Time wasting is good.

As a gamer I cannot help but recommend eye candy capable hardware if at all possible. It's not my fault :music:

I'm assuming my husband won't be playing Age of Empires anymore now that he has his xBox 360. Plus, I hardly play the Sims 2, especially now that I started my own business... just incase I ever want to though - I want the computer to be able to handle some light gaming haha.

Where pipes and video cards are concerned the more the better, generally :)

That particular card comes in 8 and 12 pipe flavours. Choose 12!!!

Lol, i have to say something here.

You can tell a thread that's started by a woman on a tech forum when the reply count almost matches the view count

Absolutely, i highly doubt you'll use beyond 2gb unless your multitasking abilities are off the proverbial chart.

When you get the system and you're knee deep in pshop and illustrator, check the task manager performance tab and compare total commit charge to total physical memory. If the former is higher, you need more ram. If lower, you don't.
