There are a few people I would die for, but I don't know if any of them are my family members. I love my family, but I have very little respect for them. It depends on the situation of course, but if it was just a simple "would you trade your life for x", probably not. On the other hand, if i had to see them die in a brutal way, yes I'd rather it be me.

I voted yes, but it kind of depends on the situation. I would not die for one of my friends if he was doing something dumb, like the mob killing him over gambling debts, but in a war I would put my life on the line for a close friend.

I would risk my life for a LOT of people.

In fact, I have. I'm a veteran.

Of which war?

I'm a peacetime veteran. I was discharged just before the first gulf war.

I voted no as a quick response (that makes me an @sshole right?) but more I think about it, if you put me in the right circumstance i would die for just about anyone. And I would for my siblings. I would like to say my mother, but she would never let that happen. So my only chance dieing for her would be fighting for both of our lives.

I'd die for a stranger given the right circumstances. But generally no. Basically, if their death would haunt me for the rest of my life (guilt, sense of loss, whatever), I'd rather just die then. Selfish, eh? :D

All three of my children.

I noticed no mention of the husband.

No, and I wouldn't want him to die for me, either. Not sure why that seems weird, but to each his or her own!

I don't see any problem in that. Your children are 25+ years younger than you (and the product of your life and love). That would go much higher than a spouse on the list, who has the same amount of time to live as you. I don't know how I'd feel because I don't have a SO, but I can surely understand it.

Well, I suspect you'll make a good SO eventually. :)

If my husband was set to die and I took his place, he'd be PISSED! He doesn't want me to die before him. And I don't want him to die before me. Just because I wouldn't die in my husband's place isn't a sign that I don't love him... it's quite the opposite. It just makes more sense to accept whatever happens naturally.

I agree totally.
