Is there any benifit of office 2007 over 2003?

IMO, it's a matter of preference.

I actually LIKE 2007 and find it easier to use than 2003 and earlier versions, BUT, there is a learning curve since for the first time, there are no menu bars...only the ribbon.
Once you get familiar with the ribbon however, it's easy to use, you can scroll across the various options without having to click on the menu to get to your options, and (for me) things are laid out in ways that make sense.

My school, (akchewelly, I just grajewated) has gone to all Office 2007 applications, and if you're in one of the various computer classes, everything has to be done with 2007. (obviously, it doesn't matter for papers written for homework or essays)

if upgrading is only going to cost you $15, it's a no-brainer. Excel in particular has new features in 07 that are very useful. There will be a learning curve getting used to the 'Ribbon' interface, but in the long run it's worth it.

I have Office XP 2002 Pro edition in use at home. At work we run Office XP 2003 Pro. But I also got a full licensed copy of Office 2007 Ultimate from the Microsoft Launch event about 2 years ago. So if I want to upgrade it, I can do so at any time. And the Business Contact Manager that comes with Office 2007 and can be added to Office 2003 (free) is very handy to store business cards, contact photos and other useful info.
But as said above, for only $15 you should obtain it. It is worth much more.

What time does your flight leave from Bizarro world? The ribbon interface is another classic example of MS changing something that doesn't need to be changed to justify a version upgrade. Honestly I think they peaked with XP and 2003 and it's downhill from there on all fronts.

I happen to like the "ribbon" GUI. And, now that I have learned it, I see it will be the way to go - even WordPad and Paint have it in Windows 7. Its color selection is very nice as well. You have a good deal - go for it!

2007 has considerable security enhancements. Not that this is what most people will think of first, of course 😀

edit: and if that isn't enough, you can Save As PDF once you go to Microsoft's site and get the freebie Save As PDF add-on 🙂

You can do that with Open Office out of the box :^P

I agree with the others though. $15 is almost free. Even if you don't like it as well, you're not out much money.
