Is there a simpler explanation for the recent spat of shout downs at town hall meetings?

In one townhall in Michigan, we had some obese woman just keep on yelling "Is this coming out of my paycheck". Anyway, come to find out, she was barely making any money and didn't have health insurance for years because she couldn't afford it. Its like Lady, why are you protesting something that can only benefit you? She's just a corporate lemming who wants to align herself with the rich and believe in the same causes but in reality she's being used by the elites. Most people want a single payer system, unfortunately the media has made it sound like everyone is against this and they keep playing videos of paid assholes yelling. It looks like a single payer system is going to be here within the next 10 years. I'm glad there will be a government option because its getting out of control.

It's sad when people act in an out of control manner or get violent at a peaceful political discussion and it shares the national stage with murders, rapes, and Micheal Jackson's death. This is the only way righties can garner attention, by losing their cool and acting like an emo idiot on the news. BBC ftw.

Oh boy. Another idiot.

If you're jealous of the attention, maybe you can join those Democrat union thugs and start pushing little old ladies around.

Oh boy. Another town hall shouter. If I give you a free punch, think we'll make the news? You wish I was a Democrat, and I know losers when I see them - specifically people like you on the news. Keep watching Glenn Beck and listening to Rush, you may actually gain an IQ point by it. ;)

Not really, just a bunch of petulant, overly emotional dimwits with nothing better to do.

And it's working to stop this crap. Represent us, representatives.

It's working to make people look like a big group of crazy people that can't have a civilized discussion.

So? It's stopping this bill. That is a wonderful thing. The death panels are being removed from the senates version. We're stopping this bullshit. This is wonderful.

It's this sort of thing that makes no one take you seriously. If you've even been paying the slightest bit of attention you would know that there was never any such thing as 'death panels'. It's been repeatedly proven false by every news source out there with the possible exception of Fox News. So are you just trolling, or are you actually unhinged enough to believe this sort of thing?

1. These townhall meetings were never about debating the health care issue. That is a red herring put out by primary supporters of the bill. If you remember, this bill was already supposed to be passed, lock, stock and barrel well before now, and before a large number of the town halls even took place.

These townhall meetings were far more about gathering support after the fact - trying to make people feel better about the government taking over the system. In other words, these town hall meetings were little more than damage control.

2. In Michigan, these so-called townhalls have been laughable. They've been intentionally scheduled during the work week, during the day. In fact, some of the so-called 'representatives' doing the scheduling have placed their town hall meetings more than 2 hours outside their rural districts, and moved them to Detroit where they're sure to get a higher level of support (by people they don't even represent).

3. The second poster is dead on regarding the divide and concur process being followed by people who don't want this bill opposed. I've heard notable people supporting this bill claim that people who protest are:

A. Unamerican.
B. Ignorant.
C. Naive.
D. Paid operatives.
E. Dishonest.

Not once have I heard them admit that this bill does not address many of the most poignant issues at the heart of the matter: this bill still does not provide any way of actually provided health care to the poor people it claims to be aiming to help. This bill still does not have any way of funding it other than plunging the country into more debt. This bill still does not address the issues surrounding medication costs, insurance company inefficiency, and price collusion throughout the whole industry.

The "simple" explanation for this is very simple: people are unhappy because they are not being represented by the people in Washington. A party that current holds a small majority in our government is pushing through the most comprehensive change to our lifestyle that's been seen in perhaps the last 60 years, and wants it done in three months with little concensus and even less discussion.

Maybe you haven't figured it out yet, but this administration always passes things with little thought and amends them later. It's their MO. To ask for a well thought out, full reaching and logical bill isn't going to happen. It's clever because it gets the bare minimum program into place as fast as possible and then sorts through the details later.

I'm a member of some very large (engineering) oriented organizations. Any time they want to make a major structural change, they will take one area of the country and run a pilot program for a year or two, to see if it creates any issues.

Instituting a broad, sweeping change like this without doing your due diligence is negligent and nearly criminal. Of course, that description applies to nearly every one of our elected officials, but I digress....

As I have said before liberals love political dissent as long as it furthers their own agenda. Speak out against them and you are the enemy to be silenced by any means available.

Anyone one of you girls want to rent a room so the rest of us don't have to watch you blow each other? It's embarrassing.

Ok, for this and your subsequent posts, you get an all expenses paid vacation.

Note to all the others who joined this guy in the ghetto of crude but unfunny, you could be next.

I'm perfectly sane. I'm wondering while all you are so willing to bend over and spread the checks for politicians and policies that are not in your best interest. Explain it for me. Do you love money that much? Does having money make you feel superior? Does having a gun make you feel like a tough guy? Do you feel so bad about yourself you have to look down on minorities? Seriously, I want to know how one becomes such a self-loathing, masochistic piece of garbage.

So, protesting an illegal war and being supportive of it is bad; purposefully trying to shut down any intelligent discourse in a debate to hurt poor people is good.

god damn you're evil as fuck
