is there a "do not mail me CC offers" list?

Ever since I bought a new car, I've been bombarded by non stop "you're pre-selected!" crap from every card company. I'm getting 3-5 a week at this point, it's absurd. Is there a way to stop this? It's not only wasteful, it's very annoying. Any way to make them stop?

More then likely your name was sold to them so you are kinda screwed.

Move and don't tell anyone your new address. 😛

Go to each of the three bureaus and opt out.

I have this unnatural fear of people stealing my identity with my mail. 😉

Not entirely true, but I do need my mail forwarded once I move. The few things that I do need there need to be forwarded. I change my address manually in the system but it always seems to take them a bit to get it.

Nothing wrong with feeling that way. Our mailbox is about 300' down the driveway. I put a yellow flag on the box that pops up to let us know when the mail is there primarily so we don't walk all the way out there for nothing when the weather is bad.

Several days out of every week, that flag is up and the mail has either been delivered and brought to the house or there is no mail there yet.

Somebody is checking mailboxes and my guess is they are looking for CC offers or some other mail they can utilize for their own purposes.

Your fear is not unnatural, it's being smart in the world we live in today.

Well the offers I've actually read still require a full form to be filled out, including SSN and all that. I don't know how much damage can be done through CC offers anymore.

However, when there's been a VISA breach or something my bank has mailed me a new debit/credit card to get a new number. I'm much more worried about people getting a hold of THAT then these CC offers (which I'm still shredding). I wouldn't be surprised if there was a CC breach during the time somebody was poking around your mailbox as they do release new cards in large chunks.

Capital One mails me stuff all the time.

Thing that entertains me about Capital One is I get the same thing offers, offers, offers. But I can't apply for any as they said I have 3 of their cards already and not eligible for more. WTF?

use the prepaid envelopes to send back bricks or dirt

just tape them to the box

Haha. Dirt can leak and that'd be shitty for a postal employee to clean up. I don't think you can tape a brick to a pre-paid envelope, either.

I stuff those prepaid envelopes with scrap metal. Can usually get 2-3 pounds in an envelope.

you dont just tape it directly to the brick, you put the brick in a box and tape it to that

Why would you want them to stop? Sometimes you'll get ones that are a good deal (0% for a year, 3.99% on transfers indefinitely). If not, just throw them out.
