Is the ripple/noise on +12v acceptable?

I monitored my voltage of +12v on my new PSU via a program under Windows. The program reports 12.15~12.36v. Is this deviation from 12v acceptable?

that isn't ripple.

Ripple is quick back and forth changes in voltage at the switching frequency...we are talking changes that happend in milliseconds. There is no software that can measure that.

We really need a bold sticky at the top of this forum that tells people not to even bother looking at software readings anyway.....of course there is the sticky that says how to measure voltage with a multi-meter.

If you had measured those voltages with a multi-meter instead of software...then I could tell you, they are perfectly fine. 12.36 is rather high, but it is still within ATX specification...which runs from 11.4V-12.6V.

It is normal for the voltages to vary somewhat under different load conditions, but they shouldn't go out of spec under any load within the PSU's output rating. The spec for all voltages now is +/- 5% of nominal, where it used to be 5% on all the voltages except 12V which was +/- 10%.

Oh I ignored the sub-heading...apparently everyone else does as well
