That would be me. 2000 WS6 black on black 6-speed. College here, not highschool.

You would wonder how people would feel if they started polls associating Hummer and Escalades to certain groups of people or older minivans with skateboarded rims. I know a lot of people that do not fit into the mullet wearing crowd that drive Trans-Ams, especially when that started to approach $30k. Though the bottom end Camaro and Firebird seems to bring in a certain character of people.

Actually, the buying demographic at the end of the FBodies life had people at the average age of 40 and most lived above middle class lifestyles. It got that way due to the cost of the cars continually going up and the high cost to insure the cars. I don't have exact figures, but this guy knows.

I currently own an 86 Trans AM (Project Car), 99 Camaro Z28, and a 94 Corvette Convertible.

It actually humbles me when I hear stuff like this. I'm only 26 and with the success I've had in life I could buy a new car that costs considerably more, but I won't.

Used to have a 97 Z28 with 3 inch straight pipes. My only complaint was that plastic interior almost rattled itself in half. :p

So, in other words, people who used to have mullets?

They used to be the fastest stock cars under $20k in the 90s, $15k in the 80s, and $7k in the 70s

You're assuming they don't have mullets at age 40.

LOL I wish. Sorry to burst your bubble but I paid for it myself. 15K to be exact. That and I pay for 100% of my school as well. Parents not even co-signed. Work fulltime school fulltime. Unlike SOME people, I have to work for what I want. Nice try at trying to slam me though.

Are you kidding me? 01-02's are a little bit more expensive due to the LS6 heads they come with. 15K was actually a lot of money. It only had 29,000 miles on it with a single owner. I'm from the metro area of MN, and drove up to Grand Rapids to get it. You can easily get a higher mileage (50-80K miles) car for less than 15K. If you wanted to get an SS they are even cheaper yet because there are more of them. If you didn't care about the suspension/appearance package of the SS/WS6 you could get a Z28 or regular Trans Am for 10K or less without too much hassle. I've only seen a few Firehawks that were 2001-2002s with very low mileage that went for over 20K, and that is only because there were a lot fewer of them made.

I just bought a new 1988 Pontiac Firebird 2 weeks ago and the hair at the back of my head grew 6 inches

Oh I say new because it has a new:
Engine
Trans
Gas tank
Fuel pump
Paint
And the undercarage has not one spec of rust under it
And got it for $2k :D
Bad:
Needs a new headliner, that is all;)

I'm not gonna say you're lying but who ever sold it to you didn't know what they had

here's a 2000 SS Camaro with 66k miles for 20 grand

so you can imagine 15k is a steal and is a call for shens

Trans-Am definitely..

but that isn't a bad thing unless you have a superiority complex or are 13 years old.

I'm assuming he did know what he was talking about because we talked cars for quite some time during the sale. I found it on Car Soup last march. It was a private sale compared to a dealer, so that makes a couple thousand difference I'd think. If you don't believe me, that's fine. I'm the one that gets to drive around in a sweet ride. We even put 10K on the bill of sale so I only had to pay 600 something in taxes compared to the 900.

Only if you get the plain one. The one with the big bird on the hood is definitely not mullet territory. ;)

Actually I would love to get my hands on a 68 Firebird. That or a 68 Camaro are one of the few GM cars I would like to have.

Nah, the ones associated with mulletheads are wore out pos cars.

The ones that you can tell have been repainted, but there is blue smoke coming out of the exhaust.
