I don't understand calling the internet an invention. It's just an implementation of networking, which is part of computing. There can be many implementations of networking: private vlans, intranet, internet, extranet, internet 2.0, closed area networks, crossover peer2peer. Networked computing was a massive invention, yes. Not greatest of all time, however as we move forward it may seem that way.

Personally I think things like the electric lighting, refrigeration, antibiotics, vacinations, the airplane, the automobile, and modern agriculture are far greater than the internet in their impact on the quality of human life around the globe.

Quick FYI as well, for the people listing discoveries, they are not the same as inventions. Hey, at least you have the precious internet to look up the distinction, though. :thumbsup:
