oo its soo big and bulky cause it has good hardware. im gonna choose the hallo piece of sh!t that breaks in a month and has crappy graphics.

I think the GC will be right. I didn't want to spend a lot on games and it looks like this is perfect.

Under $90 for all those.

Going to pick up a Wavebird for $25, and hopefully Resident Evil for $20 and Super Monkey Ball for under $20.

I played both Metroid Prime and Splinter Cell for the first time this weekend. IMHO Metroid is a fun game, but I wouldn't buy a console just to play that game and a couple of other exclusives. Splinter Cell on the other hand is quite possibly the best game I've ever played... except for maybe Zelda: a Link to the Past. I already own an XBox though so I'm inherently a little biased.

Considering this, if I were buying a system today, I'd get an XBox because of Live and Splinter Cell. I want ot get Live with Ghost Recon but right now I can't afford to plunk down $140 CDN between the game and the starter kit. Maybe Santa Clause will help me out?

If you want a system to run linux on, play dvds on, and hack to get nothing but free games forever, get the XBOX and mod it. I did.

But...if you want to play truely original, fun games such as Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda, and Starfox Adventures, get the Gamecube. Especially if you're a Resident Evil fan. I buy all my games used, as no game is worth $50, so I don't go into debt as well. But, if you want to waste a lot of money (in my opinion), buy games for the XBOX. There hasn't been a single game for that sytem yet that I have played and haven't felt like I was wasting my time. It works best as a movie player, divx and dvd, and linux (ftp). Wish that it had inputs, it'd be the most bada$$ tivo on the market!

Metroid is currently the best game for any system that Ive played...if you dont like it...chances are you havent really spent anytime with it....

Xbox

You can mod it and add thousands of Mame arcade games to it

Anyways, I have all three consoles. Each time I keep reading about a must have GC game, I pick it up and get bored of it really easily. Xbox (especially now that Xbox Live is released) and PS2 have both matched my entertainment expectations. I am still waiting for the must have game on the Gamecube which will make me glad I purchased a Gamecube. I am going to pass on Metroid because there are other games that I currently would rather buy (NBA 2K3, NHL 2K3, Splinter Cell) but as it stands, the Xbox is the system I play on the most followed by PS2 (maybe cause I am 26 years old and not some young kid). GC is collecting dust until Zelda comes out. If you need a couple of reasons why Xbox is better than GC right now, Splinter Cell and Xbox Live. PS2 has a large assortment of old and new great games but its age is showing in graphics.
