Is the GameCube right for me? Or the Xbox?

Halo is an old game dude. For all we know, the developers could've used Halo as an example of a great first person shooter on console, and try to improve upon it. The time difference between the two games are too great to compare them as rivals (still don?t stop people from doing it though).

What you should be glad about is that it is (according to you) better, cause they had enough time to perfect Metroid. If it wasn't better or say equal to Halo, then it would've been a huge disappointment.

go for the xbox there is a million reasons y but i dont feel like writing a book on AT. go to target and get the little xbox mini megazine with all the info in it it will tell you everything you need to know. me and my freinds all agree on xbox. ps2 is a cheap system it breaks EASILY ive fixed two of my friends already. gamecube it just has too little. not enuf games no cd/dvd playback and the controllers suck. my friend bought one in two days he took it back and popped halo back in his xbox and was like fvck that. hope that helps

o and last time i went two electronics botique they had the gamecube for 150 then a 50 dallar mir just if you decide to waste money on something that sucks

i got the gamecube cuz i was brought up on nintendo, i took a hit of nostalgia when i saw the new metroid came out, got a good deal on it and the console, and figured "hey a new mario game, that HAS to be at least a little fun"

so if you think i'm stupid for purchasing my gamecube, i really don't care. i have fun with it, i don't make you play it. i bought it for MY entertainment, and it entertains me.i hope you (meaning fanboys) have fun w/ YOUR console (whichever one you are fanboy crazy about), but since you feel the need to put down people who don't have the same console as you, i'd imagine you AREN'T having as much fun with it as you thought you would

i also grew up with nintendo, of course i am going to like their sequels etc.
i dont think the gamecube is a better system per se than the xbox,
however, i certainly dont think halo is in the same league as metroid prime..and i think halo is a good game.

To the topic at hand:
I've played Metroid Prime.
Honestly don't see what the fuss is all about.

But again, as you said, enjoy what you bought.

I know I'll be enjoying the HECK out of XBL and MechAssault this weekend, shootin it up with a bunch of other "fanboys" from right here on ATOT.
And I'll also enjoy the HECK out of Splinter Cell.
And I'll enjoy the HECK out of co-op Halo at today's B'ham meet (if I can tear folks away from XBL).

Metroid has some nice graphics, but my lack of enthusiasm about it has more to do with the gameplay and controls.
Not my cup of tea personally...and I've never been a fan of Mario-stuff.

I'm actually thinking about picking up an xbox for xbox live. $50 seems reasonable enough for a year of gaming, but the problems I see are not having an ethernet port near my TV and the fact that even though it costs $50 now, I can't see it being that cheap when the year is up. It's kind of like the villian's plan in Live and Let Die, give away heroin and get millions of people hooked, then jack up the price and have a guaranteed income stream. Of course, at that point I could always just ditch live and mod my xbox for divx and mp3s, then use it for hot halo action.

Although I don't think the gamelist is a very good gauge, I like the other stats with one exception. First, the PS2 has many more consoles because it has been out twice as long and that is why the game list looks that way (very interesting though). The only other thing that I don't think should be included is the GBA. It isn't a console and costs much less because it's not a console. Other than that, I think that what you've posted is exactly what I was looking for. Great job.

BTW: I head that all 3 were considering price cuts for the hollidays. $150 for both PS2 and XBox and possibly $100 for GC. This is rumor though and should be treated as such. We've already heard this once before, so watch out if nothing comes of this.

I would've told you to buy an xbox before last night, but my friend ran out and bought a silver GC with Metroid and Mario Party... All I can say, is I haven't had as much fun playing games as I did last night. Mario Party is a blast with four people screaming at each other... Metroid, IMO, is as good as the originally Resident Evil was when it came out (or better). That game has it all. Great graphics, nice scary moments, a truly eerie soundtrack, and solid action. I was totally impressed by the gamecube.

I don't think that really counts because the Gamecube is Japanese in origon, like the PS2, yet sales have been weak there. PS2 is hard to beat in those markets simply because it has weird ass games, DDR, and RPGs. Something both the GC and Xbox lack in huge numbers.
