As far as I'm concerned ANYTHING is open to be made fun of. Everything has a humor value, EVERYTHING.
If you can't laugh, you might as well be dead.

So making jokes about the holocaust or 9/11 can in a WAY be funny?

yes.

Tell me a joke that is funny.

Someone's never seen "Hogan's Heroes".

Great show, but I don't think it was about the Holocaust.

No, I'm fairly certain you don't.
Then you just don't like political humor, or most other humor for that matter. You don't laugh at anything but gay and jew jokes. Hmm.. I see a pattern.

No, I just don't think he's funny.

the fact that you have to ask shows that you are completely out of touch with reality.

Listen, if you don't understand that everything can be funny, then you probably don't have a well developed since of humor anyway. There are two ways you can deal with things: Drama and Comedy. Schindler's List vs Life is Beautiful. People want to laugh at horrible things. It removes their power. Some of the best laughs you can get are in Horror movies, because people are so pent up with tension that they need to let it out.

That doesn't mean that 9/11 or the holocaust or cancer aren't horrible things, it just means being able to laugh at them once and a while at least makes you feel better about them.

Your assigment: go watch the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where Larry brought a Holocaust survivor to a dinner party where he met a Colby from the Tv Show "Survivor" and they argued about who had it worse.
That episode was hilarious!! "I'm a survivor!" "I'm a survivor!"

Stewart has his audience, and it is not the same one as Fox. As long as his viewers like him, thats all that matters.

I think he isn't hitting on all cylinders here lately, sort of like was doing Letterman sometime back.

Surely not to everyone, but to many people yes it is.

Don't like? Don't watch.

Wondering how the Americans would react if they would make fun of bombings in NYC etc.

I think they did make fun of the bombing in NYC!!

Just saw snippets of the 15th February, about Iraq, etc. Should that be funny?

Tell me, do you have a sense of humor?

Yeah, funny how a suicide bomber blows up the "seats", or however they are called in the congress.

I cant believe no one has compared it to Aaron Sorkins "Sports Night".
They both started off as funny, but as each evolved they started to get a little more serious with each episode. Like when Jon Stewart started having politicians as guests. (After Sep 11).
As long as you accept the changes and appreciate them for good entertainment, they are still fun to watch.

But I did NOT like when Alan Alda started screwing up MASH. The show should have just ended with a funny season 5. Instead they made an eleven season sitcom based on a three year war. With the last 4 being drama.

It's a fake news show that, in the words of Jon Stewart, comes on after puppets making crank phone callls. I happen to like it, maybe you don't. Super, there are a lot of TV shows I don't like, but I don't feel the need to make threads where I cry about them like a little girl.

Thread's done now, folks. Move along, nothing more to see here.

The Daily Show is one of the funniest things ever, and if you have questions regarding their ability to make fun of almost anything, tasteless or not, just keep watching... Post 9/11 they were one of the only shows that tried to keep the humor, in the most humanly way possible, in an unbelievable situation they/we all lived through......

I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with the original cast (Jon Stewart, Mo Rocca, Steve Carrell, Steve Colbert, Nancy Walls, Vance Degeneres) back in 2000 at the RNC convention in Philly, and I'm talking every day for a week (I was playing student Journalist, I took an empty desk, TDS showed up, also without an official work area, so they took the other empty desk and empty corner next too it) and they were all very friendly and funny to a total stranger sitting next to them... They made the experience fun for me, and actually helped me acclimate to a weird environment.

Stewarts Schtick does get old every now and then, but more often than not, they come up with very funny takes on all sorts of situations.... I just wish it were an hour instead of half an hour....... Four minute interviews just don't cut it most times.......
