Just drove through redding yesterday and all the signs proclaiming the opposite were certainly amusing 😂
No doubt...that's part of the State of Jefferson...

Arnold is definitely a RINO. He's fairly liberal on most social issues.Deukmejian, Wilson, Schwartzenactor... just the most recent 3 republicans...although it COULD be argued that Ah-Nold was RINO...
No.Any chance they'll consider Kevin Paffrath?

No.
It's Newsom or if turnout is depressingly bad for Dems, it'll be Herr Elder. Newsom in his infinite wisdom prevented any prominent Democrats from entering the recall ballot, and has also urged voters to simply skip question #2. I'll certainly be voting against recall, but Newsom needs new political strategists. Whoever is advising him are morons, but that should be good enough to keep him in office. As mentioned above, universal mail-in ballots, return postage pre-paid sets the effort bar extremely low for voters.
In the current climate, it's not a "mistake" but it demonstrates Newsom's strategies are all about self-preservation. That's simply a politician playing politics, but I don't have to sit here and commend it either. What I mean is that in 2018, he won the general election by nearly 24 points. Special elections are weird beasts, but Newsom should still win next week by at least 10 points. Telling voters to skip #2 is like the equivalent of telling Bernie Bros to not show up for Hillary Clinton and handing the Rust belt over to Trump (I'm not saying this can happen next week). Maybe his election strategists have game planned this out, and they believe that telling voters to skip #2 is a net positive for Newsom's chances on #1.Why is that a political mistake? If prominent dems had entered the race, it would only have encouraged a split of the dem vote, with some dems voting "yes" in hopes of electing a dem they prefer over Newsom.
We can't have Elder being governor here, period. I support any legal political tactic which makes that a less likely outcome.

In 2003, Gray Davis was cooked and trailed badly in the polls. In that environment, I would certainly hope the incumbent would not prevent a viable candidate from his own party from entering the race. If your personal boat is sunk, don't take down the entire state with it. That's my only point.
In the current environment, Newsom has so many advantages on his side that I'm not particularly worried. I'm not anti-Newsom btw; the biggest gripe I have is that he's not fiscally responsible like Jerry Brown was. We'll know on election night how it all turns out. I'll vote no on recall, and choose Kevin Paffrath because what other option do I have?
Why do you think he's mailing out stimulus checks, literally 10 days before the election? LOLRight, he's doing it for self-preservation. Which matters little when his self-interest happens to coincide with what's in the best interests of residents of the state. No one will come out of this as gov except either Newsom or Elder. Elder is simply not an option for this state.
How is he fiscally irresponsible when the state is running such a massive budget surplus that they are mailing out stimulus checks?

California has a staggering $75.7B budget surplus
California's coffers are bulging thanks to the high-flying Silicon Valley, surging stock market and a large share of professionals who were able to continue working remotely during Covid-19.www.politico.com

I didn't say he's fiscally irresponsible, only time will tell. I did say he's not as responsible as Jerry Brown was in the previous terms. Everyone knows the massive FY2021 surplus is a one-time boon, and our spending patterns aren't structurally designed to smooth out the revenue peaks and valleys. We're better prepared now because Brown implemented a substantial "rainy day fund" but instead of rushing to spend those surplus billions, I'd like us to bank more of it. Gov. Brown consistently held back state legislators who wanted to spend incoming rev as quickly as possible.
To be clear, I'm OK with Gov. Newsom threatening other Dems to not join the fray. I'm not particularly OK with him telling us all to skip question #2. There's no harm in voting no, and also choosing anyone but Elder. I suspect we can both agree on that.
Is it fiscally responsible to have such a surplus rather than putting the funds to work for the people? It's OK to have a 'rainy day fund' for disasters and such.
Did you miss the part about how the state is using said funds to mail out stimulus checks?

Little off the topic but he is the top choice if newsom gets recalled.

Fox Host: ‘Only Thing’ That Can Save Newsom Is ‘Voter Fraud’
Fox News personalities appear to be setting up the conspiratorial narrative to explain away Newsom potentially surviving a recall vote.www.thedailybeast.com
of course they went there, shows they are worried.
looks like that is going to be their go to excuse when things don't go their way.
even if Newsom wins in a landslide they will claim it was only because of voter fraud even if all evidence says otherwise. It's becoming obvious that this is the new normal. Republicans will falsely claim they were cheated every time they lose.
Or just get rid of the recall process. There is already a baked in recall process - the governor's term and the general election. And if he needs to be removed before that, there is impeachment. Why add to the complexity?Absolutely. What is the Lt. Governor even for if not this? The Lt. Gov. is separately elected, not appointed by the gov. If a recall passes, it should fall to the Lt. Gov.

Attention whore says what?Like the Beatles said in song,
YOU SAY YOU WANT A REVOLUTION?
YOU AIN'T GONNA MAKE IT WITH ANYONE ANYHOW.
And Fox News.... haha silly Fox news claiming people are sick of democrat liberal rule in CA and fleeing the state in droves. Well Fox and Friendless, its not quite that bad just yet where people would prefer a looney toon republican as governor vs a democrat liberal. Fox forgets, California is a liberal state. Everyone wants to live in CA because CA is a liberal state otherwise CA would have the population of Tennessee and Tennessee the population of CA. CA is a fun nutty place but they would never be nutty enough to elect THIS.
