Is Sushi healthy?

The monthly is sushi healthy thread is back I see. Basically yes, rice and fish are healthy. Just make certain that (1) you trust the place making it to minimize the risk of disease/contamination. And (2) minimize your consumption of high mercury fish and eat more of the low mercury fish.

That said, it sucks in my opinion. My week in Japan was a week of hell. At least most US places give you wasabi during the whole meal and they aren't as bad though as you can give it some form of non-bland flavor.

the japanese have like the longest lifespans. just don't eat fish skin and it'll be way heathier than red meat and burgers

I've ate Sushi all over North America. Some of the best sushi I've had was in places not known for sushi. Such Yoko's in Bend Oregon. Ocean World in Indianapolis. The best sushi ever is at Tojo's in Vancouver. No menu at Tojo's, as he prepares what is fresh, and he creates it for you. About $50/person.

$50 pp is nothing compared to what some of the top sushi chefs in NYC charge. Expect to pay at least twice that for a truly ridiculous sushi experience

but i love minado best sushi buffet!

minado's fish, in general, is not that fresh. I've found that they usually have 1 kind of fish that is pretty fresh and the rest aren't. They do have a huge selection of rolls though

don't have sushi if you're pregnant or think you might be. while your body can withstand some bacteria and chance of infection, it's not good for a fetus. this isn't necessarily directed at the OP.
