Is she guilty of something or not?

she is willing to help as long as the activities she talks about will not incriminate her. Chances are she and Heath 'partied' together. She'd like to get his story out, but not if it's going to cost her jail time.

I want to know how that leaked. The lawyer would've definitely told her not to let anybody else know. Plus that makes her look suspicious.

If it's the feds, is she required to give whatever information even if they don't have any evidence held against her?

you are never required to say anything. You can take the contempt of court charge.

Just use politician's favorite line 'i don't remember' ,it seems to work well for them...

Possible alternative: she misses being in the limelight. The world is focused on Miley Cyrus, etc. She craves any attention, even if somewhat negative.

Why do people like that kind of attention?

Sharing drugs is what friends do.

She should get immunity.

If someone ODs on Tylenol, it will never be the manufacturers fault. Personal responsibility....

No if she gave him prescription drugs without a prescription then she broke the law and the drugs she gave him could have been the ones that caused the fatal mix and killed him. It?s called manslaughter in that case.

stupid law then. The pills didn't magically crush themselves and fly into his nose.

WTF are you talking about?

Drugs dont ingest themselves.....maybe in soviet russia but not here in the US. If I sell someone 5 gallons of water and they drink it all in 20 minutes and die from water toxicity should I get a manslaughter charge?

It's physically impossible to ingest 5 gallons of water in 20 minutes.

could be precaution from her lawyer.....

Didn't anyone else watch that video about "never talk to the police"? I would say it's advice from her lawyer. Anything she says can be used against her. Anything she says can never be used FOR her. Only talk to police freely if you get immunity. Even if you did nothing wrong, you may say things that may imply guilt.

Oh man---they have GOT to make that movie.

It's suspicious. I wouldn't automatically say that it's indicative of some sort of guilt on her part in Heath Ledger's case, but it could be incriminating in other aspects. (her dealer makes a plea deal that fingers her to be the middle person)

I'm sure she's just doing what her lawyers are telling her to do anyway. From their perspective, who knows if the authorities would simply want a fall person in a witch-hunt.

Of course she's guilty, nobody looks for immunity if they're innocent. The only question is to the degree of her guilt. Did she hook him up with a supplier or did she supply the stuff herself?
That's completely untrue. If you're innocent you should definitely ask for immunity, because you never know what you might say that might "incriminate" you. The police don't know you're innocent, and they wouldn't be talking to you if you weren't under some suspicion.

You should never talk to the police, especially when you're innocent. As the saying goes: Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. Note that it doesn't say that it can be used for you. That falls squarely under hearsay and isn't admissible in court. If you talk to the police it can only be used against you.

Note: IANAL
