Is reality overrated?

I've got this really surreal situation at work (we partners are all suing each other), and I'm spending most of my "free" time putting together a web business, which means that basically I stare at the computer screen all day/night/whatever else there is.

I'm realizing that I am getting further and further out of touch with reality. For example, my kid came in to ask me a question about dinner and I typed the question into google, out of habit. (Pretty funny results, too, kid & I had a good laugh) The doorbell rang earlier, it was the postman with a certified letter, and I was so caught up in my own world that I didn't remember how to sign my own name. Took a while (I'm sure the postman thinks I drink, or something. Well, actually, I do, but that's another rant)

I stopped caring about clean clothes a long time ago, only change them when I can't remember anymore which meal the food stains came from.

However, I pretty much enjoy myself. Meanwhile in the "real" world, there are many things going on that I don't like. Work, of course; my inlaws; stupid family arguments; money; you know, normal stuff.

So, is there any reason that I should return to reality? Web programming isn't exactly insanity, but it's certainly an altered mind frame. Should I cut back on the programming, and go smell the roses, or should I let go of so-called real life for a while and see how far I can get?

I'm asking you guys 'cause you understand.

Is reality overrated?

Of course it is. I been thinking about it for the past several days. I reckon... Man, I spend about 1/3 of my lifetime sleeping. And a few days ago I was pretty much ill and didn't get up the whole day. And I got this idea... Yeah, of course life is great, but it's overrated. B/c I don't live all of my lifetime. I spend a huge chunk of my time being tired, worn out, sleeping. The periods of activity are rather insignificant in duration compared to periods of doing nothing and wasting precious lifetime sleeping. So to speak, life is sometimes a joke. So what had I been someone different... It would be the same thing. My consciousness would work only certain, very limited periods of time when I'm sober, after I've had a good night rest etc.

Sensory deprivation.

The weord thing is when you just stop thinking about the people around you when you go outside and they all just seem like passing objects that you've created.

Go have some fun. It's not that hard if you're not uptight and refuse to mingle...

You should have taken the blue pill...

There is no reality; there is only perception.

uh, why didn't you try mediation, or at least have an arbitration clause in your agreement?

and for those asking about reality - keep one thing in mind....

your reality and my reality are two completely different worlds... it doesn't work to compare them. you're the only one in charge of you.

I would say that's a sign of a serious problem.

Yeah, there's only perception. But who can perceive. Looks to me like what most call perception is just the echo of the past, the associations things produce, thinking about what's going on. Wouldn?t perception be something you can't describe and experience, a silent imaging of what is, what is me and what the world indistinguishable?

What is reality? There is no reality, there is only the Matrix. Follow the bunny.

Absolutely not. Reality, or our collective view and unspoken agreement of reality is probably completely overrated (and false once we fail to agree). Subjective reality is badass and one may argue is the only thing truely personal to each of us.

With the litigation at work you seem to have jumped into the one endevor that has both the potential for earnings and something you like... your reality is your reality... why wonder about it... if you only change cloths when it becomes apparent then why worry.... your mind is preoccupied with the issue of "Web Building" and I'd venture it takes a lot of brain power to keep it all together... so set up a schedule... when the clock goes bong you do this when it goes bong, bong you do that... and so on...
List your priorities and find time for all of them... with out fail... include fun time for you unless you enjoy computator stuff.. break the day into logical segments so that each part enjoys the next part... and around the clock ya go..
But.... No stress.... if it is stressfull... and ya hate it you wont do it too well... if it is stressfull and ya like it you can thrive on it...
