Wow. Why the hell is airfare to Montreal over $500 R/T a head from DC? I've always wanted to go, never really looked at the price to do it. How do east coasters normally do the trip? Is there a border airport that would be a better bet, or do I just suck it up? It's a 90 min flight!

Actually, nevermind, found a decent fare. $474 a piece, RT on Air Canada from DCA. Not much cheaper, but it's from DCA, 5 mins from the house and not Baltimore.

Sounds like I figured out where we're going in September. Thanks for the idea, folks.
 
i miss Montreal!!!!! can't wait to go back. i didn't eat any poutine last time i was there though :/

we drove from NYC.

~6 hours plus an hour crossing the border.

la banquise seemed to be the consensus for the best poutine in the city.

La Banquise is the place for poutine in MTL.

I'd like to suggest trying in Quebec City at "Ashton" and ask for the spicy gravy!
Or Pizzeria 67 with their peppery gravy is quite good!

I noticed yesterday that Burger King here has poutine on its menu.

looks good on the menu board but have no idea if it sucks.
 
Been years since I've had a poutine italienne. Very good but I can still feel the heartburn.D: Prefer the original anytime.^_^
 
I used to eat it regularly at La belle province 3 minutes from my house when I was in high school like 10 years ago. Poutine familiale = the best food for 4-5 people doing a lan party lol. The best I have had by far though is Ashton's poutine.
