i'm addicted to pot, so yes.

saying you can quit anytime doesn't mean you aren't addicted. assuming that you could quit anytime is also fallable.

i smoke pot every day. it's my beer after work.

legalize it, yeah, yeah
and we will advertise it.

Mentally Yes, physically No.

In other words you can get hooked on the feeing of being high, but you will not have withdrawals (physical) like other drugs and also alcohol.

Bingo. If any addiction develops, it's a psychological one where somebody's life is so fvcked up that they prefer the high they get from marajuana to life. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often given the popularity of the drug.

*nod*, same principle behind people who are overweight, watch too much TV, spend too much time on MMORPGs, etc.

Physically addictive drugs include nicotine, alcohol and heroin. Coke/crack doesn't technically fall into this category, but it directly affects dopamine levels in the brain, so it treads a fine line in this regard.

It's not chemically addictive. But, like alcohol, people like the feeling and can go overboard with it. The difference is marijuana abusers do much less damage to their bodies than alcoholics

Decide for yourself

Q.) Is Marijuana addictive? A.) Not everyone who uses marijuana becomes addicted, when a user begins to seek out and take the drug compulsively, that person is said to be dependent on the drug or addicted to it. In 1995, 165,000 people entering drug treatment programs reported marijuana as their primary drug of abuse, showing they needed help to stop using.
I wonder how many of these were authority ordered program enrollings' and how many were self-enrolled?
According to one study, marijuana use by teenagers who have prior serious antisocial problems can quickly lead to dependence on the drug.
I bet many more an antisocial teen have had their virginity protected by MMORPGS than marijuana.
That study also found that, for troubled teenagers using tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana, progression from their first use of marijuana to regular use was about as rapid as their progression to regular tobacco use, and more rapid than the progression to regular use of alcohol.
And this says what exactly?

You realize the whole 'gateway drug' theory was dreamed up by the anti-drug PR people, fueled by money from alcohol & tobacco manufacturers?

A monkey is sitting in a tree smoking a joint when a lizard walks past
and looks up and says to the monkey, "Hey! what are you doing?"

The monkey says, "smoking a joint, come up and have some."

So the lizard climbs up and sits next to the monkey and they have a few
tokes together.

After a while the lizard says his mouth is 'dry' and that he's going to
get a drink from the river.

The lizard climbs down the tree, dittybops on thru the jungle to the
river and leans over the river to get his drink. Well, the lizard is so
stoned that he leans too far over and falls into the river.

A Crocodile sees this and swims over to the lizard and helps him to the
side, then asks the lizard, "What's the matter with you?"

The lizard explains to the crocodile that he was sitting in a tree and
smoking a joint with the monkey and got too stoned and then fell into
the river while taking a drink.

The crocodile says he's gotta check this hippie monkey out and walks
off into the jungle where he finds the tree where the monkey is still
sitting and toking on the joint.

He looks up and says "hey you!"

The Monkey looks down and says, "dude.............how
much water did you drink?!!"

We wouldn't want everyone turning into crocodiles now would we.

There are 2 forms of addiction.... chemical and psychological (habit).... hard drugs = both forms together, other substances could be primarily the 2nd... still an addiction though....

It's not any more addictive than anything else, and less addictive than a great many things.
