Is positive racism less severe than negative racism?

Positive racism is when one attributes a positive characteristic to a certain race -- for example, the Chinese are good at math and Blacks have soul.

This still qualifies as racism, but do you think its less severe than typical negative racism?

Please share your thoughts in a non-inflammatory manner.

There are differences between races when it comes to mental and physical performance. Noting these differences is not racist. Saying you hate someone because they are of a certain race is racist.

It's still negative racism (isn't all racism negative?) because when you say that one race is better at something, you're really just saying that every other race is bad at something. For example, I'm white, and I make really good stir fry, so eff you and your racist stereotypes!!!

Since when are Chinese good at math? All the good mathematicians growing up were Korean and Caucasian. In fact, the chinese kids sort of sucked at math.

I've never heard of one Asian mathematician in my education so far.

To be fair though, white people can't tell the difference between a Chinese person and a Korean.

there's nothing wrong with positive racism.

for example, white people are very well-rounded. that's why i hire them exclusively.

Don't discriminate against skinny folks!

My parents used to own a clothing store. We had a variety of employees (all female), but we noticed that customers tended to flock to the attractive young white employees. This surprised us being that most of our customers were middle aged females (and lots of them were not white). They started hiring mostly young white girls (no jokes, por favor) and the customers seemed happier.

I also read something similar in a business book not too long ago about attractive white employees equating to more sales. I dunno. Anyone wanna back me up or say I'm wrong?

but asians are better at math, black people have rhythm, white people cant jump, mexicans can cook any food in existence..

this isnt racism, it's the basis of jokes.

What a racist remark!

Here's an easy guide to telling which racial stereotypes/slurs are worse than others: anything you hear shouted from a car window (or at a Republican rally *o snap*) or scrawled across a windshield or bathroom stall. You're not going to find "blacks are good at dancing" written in magic marker between two swastikas.

I actually can, with a fair degree of accuracy. All of the Koreans I know tend to have slightly bigger eyes and rounded/less sharp edged heads.

It's like telling the diff between Brits and Frenchies.

There is no such thing as positive racism, racism is always negative. Stereotypes like "Asians are good at math", "Whites are well-rounded", and "Blacks have soul" are complete nonsense. Just because you think that its mostly true, its not! Its racist!!! 🙂

A better way to differentiate people is by their culture. Culture defines people's personalities and skills, not their race. No single race can be categorized by one type of culture.

Well, I don't know about flat out racism, but I am good friends with a guy at work, who very much flies with the same sex, and if you saw the hell we gave each other...We are usually out drinking together, or trying to convince one another to come out drinking though, so, hmm... He is usually with an umm, male friend when I am in a drinking mood, or I am with a female in a drinking mood, and lets just say nothing is off limits. Now we both take everything with great stride and much humor, it is just part of our friendship, and I feel that the whole racism bit should be left to the same type of friendships. If you have a good friend who is great at math and happens to be Asian, well that would be fair game, as long as he takes in good gesture, and feeds it right back at you, though you should both understand that it is all in a fun and friendly matter.
I would post some of the text messages between me and my friend, but that would probably get me banned, rather it was from what I sent him, or he sent me...lol We still have quite the slush fund of bar tabs either way, and all too many fun times drinking.

Is there one? 😀 Youse ornamentals all rook arike to me...😉

Here we go again...people talking about racism like it's a bad thing or sumthin...

Why if it weren't for racism, what would all the rednecks have to do on the weekend? Daytona, Talledaga, and the other big NASCAR tracks bring in a LOT of money for the local economies.

What? Oh...THAT racism...😱 That's NEVER a good thing, regardless of the intent.

of course, compliments are welcome. it's when something has negative connotations that people take exception.

That's called stereotyping.

Those are stereotypes, not racist remarks. Big difference. Not saying they are correct or anything, but that is the general perception, thus they are stereotypes.

PS, Chinese are better trained at the repetitive predictable stuff in math, not better at math in general.
