Is Nvidia GTX 750 capable of 4k @ 60 hz over DisplayPort?

I notice that the EVGA GTX 750 has DisplayPort output.

Anybody know for certain whether it is capable of 4k @ 60 hz? I would assume that it is, but haven't seen anything to confirm.

Also, over DisplayPort 1.2. I've read some articles saying GTX 750 can do 4k at 60 hz over dual HDMI, but not over single HDMI. So specifically I'm seeking confirmation that it can do 4k at 60 hz over DisplayPort.

Lots of graphics cards can do 4k at 30 hz, but I understand 4k at 60 hz is a little bit tougher....

It doesn't matter what the graphics card is, you can't do 4k 60 Hz with one HDMI. You require the dual HDMI split-panel setup, or HDMI 2.0, or DisplayPort. It's a cable issue, not a card issue.

This card may be able to do 4k 60 Hz for video, but not for gaming. It's not got nearly enough power to do 4k 60 Hz rendering.
 
I do not know of any GTX 750's that can run 4K@60 with a single interface. Have you seen one with display port? I have not. You can run HDMIx2 (Using MST) to get 60Hz.

Any GTX750 that got a displayport connector can.

Haswell IGP can also run 4K at 60hz on DP for that matter.

I don't believe this is true, you need to have MST display support, which means the two displays must be merged (Eyefinity/Surround) to make one display... I'm not sure Nvidia supports this fully.

MST is part of DP specification. And support of the dualscalars in current 4K screens is default. I dont see the OP talking about multiple screens.
 
Looks like EVGA is the only 750 with display port. All the rest that I have seen are HDMI/DVI only.

DP is the ugly duckling nobody wants to play with, roughly speaking. Specially in its 1.2 incarnation. Displayport have failed ever since its launch to gain traction. I wonder if HDMI 2.0 will end up more popular than DP 1.2/1.3 in the long run.

Even Dell didnt ship DP cable with my U2713HM. Only DVI as default in the package.

It would be only a single monitor. Not used for gaming.

Sounds like the consensus is that it should be able to push 4k @ 60 hz via DisplayPort. Would be very curious to hear if anybody has actually done it though, because sometimes theory and practice do not align.
 
There are 750Ti's with displayport (look at EVGA), being able to display 4K is one thing, being able to play 4K videos smoothly is another.

They all got 4K video decoders. Its nothing new. Even IGPs that couldnt do 4K had 4K capable video decoders.

Wrong. It's an HDMI issue. The cable doesn't matter one bit. The source needs to be HDMI 2.0 circuitry (which the 750 is not) and the receiver needs to be HDMI 2.0.

Only Displayport can do 4k@60hz, except for a VERY small set of TVs that do have HDMI 2.0 and an even smaller of source devices that feed a HDMI 2.0 signal.
 
Curiosity here, but doesn't a display capable of 4K cost a pretty penny. A lot of the "affordable" 4K displays only do 30Hz. This thread seems focused on the function of the GTX 750, but if you hae a 60Hz capable 4K display, is it a stretch to push for a 760? It comes reference with a display port and Nvidia's website gives these spec's

1 - 3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI. 4096x2160 (including 3840x2160) at 60Hz supported over Displayport. Support for 4k tiled MST displays requires 326.19 driver or later.

Again, $1000 plus for a monitor, there should be no scoffing at $100 ish difference in video cards.
 
I think you can get a 4K TN display with 60hz for around 700$.

No need to buy a bigger card if he is not gaming. Its just 100$ extra wasted in your example.

I got started thinking about this because a new Samsung 4k (TN) that does 60 hz for $700 is coming out sometime this month, supposedly.

Obviously, not sure if I'll get it, but just thinking ahead 🙂
 
a 750 doesnt sound like a good card to couple with a 4k monitor, unless all you want to do on that monitor is firefox and word :/

I think you misread my post, sure the 750 can display 4K, but when you go and watch a 4K video, will it be smooth or jerky? On my older laptop it wouldn't play Netflix smoothly at 1080p, my new laptop does.

I have a 750Ti in my HTPC, it has a few limitations, but does the job for an HTPC task (and Steam Big Picture with a few games).
