You're forgetting ~7 months ATI had no answer to 7800 series and it was top dog.. and you're also forgetting nV's superior OGL performance that whole time. But I guess some people only see what they want to see.

This rem inds me a lot of the 9700/5800 days.
The 9700s had superior DX9 performance, but the only game to use it with was Tomb Raider, Angel of Darkness.
Far Cry does look great, but I'm not going to go back and replay a two year old game just to see it with HDR + AA. Anyway you cut it, playing a new game you haven't seen before is 100X better than replaying an ancient one that looks a little different now.
Serious Sam2? Where to start? You's got green football players saying "hut", bucktooth goole eyed vikings, cigar smoking T-rex heads on erector set legs, brightly colored clowns on unicycles, skinny men with bombs for heads. Not silly enough? The supposed "warriors" you free at the end to "help" you look like multicolored babies and say "hello" like they just sucked helium.

1. There are no ATI based solutions that allow you to change out the dustbuster without voiding your warranty, including BBA, so it has everything to do with the noise situation. Many people at Rage3d and HardOCP are posting about how annoying the fan is, so the point stands.
2. You're comparing the cooler on $300 MSRP cards to the cooler on $500-$600 MSRP cards? I see.

Meh, 90% of your posts are about "FarCry is an old game, Serius Sam looks cartoonish and the x1900XTX is hot and noisy".
Most games run better on the Ati X1900XTX anyway, and they also run great with better HDR and AA, and HDR+AA is a bonus in games that support it. Hardware support always comes before game support, and DX9C games got released way after the NV40 got released.
Today the best single card is the x1900XTX in both IQ (including more feature, not saying it's perfect though) and FPS.

The X1900XTX is the fastest card in some games, it's the second fastest in others. All cards have shimmer in some games, nVidia cards have it a little worse in a couple.
There's no denying X1900XTXs are much louder, hotter, and more power hungry, or that Crossfire is not as good of a multicard solution due to the totally inflexible render methods. (although it's Super AA is remarkable)
The fact of the matter is both brands have their pros/cons, and to deny otherwise would seem ridiculous to me.
Anyone can key on one brand's strengths and ignore their weaknesses to proclaim "FTW!" as you have done, but the "value" of doing so is dubious at best.
It's always been this way on these forums though from what I've seen over the years:
People trying to justify their purchases or preferences to themselves and quibbling over minutia.

Sure whatevere you want to believe. Doesn't matter to me. HDR+AA is an advantage leave it at that. Noone ever said it's awesome for all your games. But instead simply said it was available. Discrediting ATI based on your opinions of Serious Sam II and FarCry are totally pathetic.
Actually yes I am comparing the cooler on a $450 card to a cooler on a $300 dollar card. But the X1800XT uses the same cooler... and that's $300. Many people complain about how weak the 7900gt cooler is. So my point still stands as well.
No my point was never to boast about ATI. I just wanted to say that trying to make ATI's HDR+AA seem useless because you think it's a crappy game is making excuses for nvidia.

Actually I prefer nVidia, and I don't have a 1900XTX (but an nVidia card), but there's no denying that the X1900XTX is the better card. Sure it may lose some here, and it's certainly not free of bugs and problems, but as a single card, it's a better buy (FPS and IQ, not talking about heat and noise.) than the 7900GTX.

The future is already here: Oblivion demonstrates that the X1900 stomps the 7900 GTX OC version (which costs $60 more) while being under a bigger workload. Not only that but who would want SLi's slow AA modes? It would be a complete waste of money to want such an inadequate multicard solution that tanks in performance when subjected to anything greater than 4xAA. So despite any quirks Crossfire may have, I'd take that anyday over a slow SLi solution that can't handle >4xAA. Why buy SLi when a single card can do 4xAA just fine in 99% of the games on the market?
Gotta love the nv shill and fanboy excuses lately:
1. Serious Sam 2 is childish therefore HDR+AA is meaningless. Well yeah it would be childish to a late 40s overweight failure in life.
2. Oblivion uses a different rendering path therefore benchmark results showing nVidia's poor performance are invalid!
3. ATi's architecture is built for shader heavy games, comparing two different architectures in Oblivion is unfair! (but doom 3 is still valid despite it's heavy use of shadows that favors nV).
4. Crossfire sucks because it doesn't have custom profiles and it has teh dongles! (Nevermind the fact that SLi sucks above anything 4xAA therefore making it completley useless as a multicard solution.)
5. 7900 is being sold out at warp speed so the inventory disappears before you even have a chance to see it in stock! ha ha!
6. SM 3.0 and HDR were groundbreaking features when 6800 series was introduced and no serious enthusiast would dare buy an X800 card despite the fact that there was at most maybe 1-2 games that supported HDR+SM 3.0. Now that HDR+AA is possible on ATi cards it's "a useless feature" or "only possible on games a 10 yr old would like". LOL!

I'd say that was true ~2 months ago and before cause nVidia generally had better performing cards for less money. ATI had good performing cards, but the price was generally more for the same or even a little less performance. Now and in general...I'd say ATI had better performing cards for the same (or even a little less money).

Username- Just a random thought that could be an all purpose username (like mine), notice the misspelling of angel, FallenAngel is probably a pretty common username so a misspelling would get around that issue.
Praise of nVidia- Rollo wasn't/isn't the only nVidia fanboy just because you praise nVidia doesn't make you Rollo. I can think of multiple people on these forums who are worse then Rollo in the constant bashing of ATI.
Posting style- Plenty of people use that posting style (creig and BFG10K come to mind) and I can say with almost complete certainty that neither of them are Rollo. Also that posting style isn't unique to AT if Fallen Angell was a member of another forum where that was prevalent then its very possible that he got good at another forum and then came here (a noob here isn't necessarily a noob somewhere else).
